It was the first day back and Zoey was walking with Tyler in the hall

"And she said that she was friends with Diaz" Zoey completed her explanation of what happened "I'm sorry I let them take you" Tyler said "it wasn't your fault, I'm the one who assaulted a cop, well tried to" she said "I mean, we all did, with our books" Tyler said and Zoey nodded "I'll see you later?" Tyler asked as they stopped in front of his door "Yea, see you" Zoey said and started walking to her locker

Once she got to her looker she placed her sketch book into it, along with her notebooks she didn't need, they all added extra weight

"Zoey" she heard and she turned around and smiled "hey" she said "hey" Clay said "what happened to you at the riot?" He questioned and she looked at him with no expression on her face "seriously?" She asked "what did I miss?" He asked "Clay, I got taken away, arrested" Zoey said "shit, I'm sorry, I didn't know" he said and Zoey nodded "I know, Tyler didn't tell you guys" she said "wait..Tyler knew? Why didn't you just tell me or something. Why didn't he tell me?" Clay asked "I don't know why he didn't, but after I got out Merida grounded me and took my things, so I couldn't tell any of you if a tried" she said "shit..does anyone else know?" He asked "from what I know..no, it was Tyler...now you" she said and closed her locker while walking towards her class and Clay followed after her

"Are you mad at me?" He suddenly asked "no, why would I be?" She asked and Clay closed his eye and took a deep breath "Zoey, I've known you for nine years, I know you're mad at me" he said and she stopped and Clay stopped

"Look, maybe I'm not mad because you know how it feels.." she said "how what feels?" He asked "how it feels for Tyler to know my secrets and you don't find out until weeks later" she said and Clay sighed "when have I ever did that?" Clay and she Zoeys eyes widened "you knew about Winston for months, you didn't tell me anything until you saw me hanging out with him, you and Ani knew for months, Zach had to explain it to me..and there's a whole lot more" she said and the bell ring "if you can excuse me, I have to get to class, and like I said I'm not mad, okay?" She said and Clay furrowed his eyebrows "okay..." he said confused and Zoey laughed while walking away

He was confused to why she wasn't mad, they got in arguments everyday and that didn't sit right with Zoey, they're friendship was never like that, so she just decided to stop being mad at the boy

"Jesus Christ, Clay" Jessica said after listening to the confessions that Clay said. Zoey rubbed her face as she sat next to Charlie

"You're gonna destroy us" Jessica said "I'm sorry..I wasn't in my right head for a long time" Clay said "foundry's interviewing every single person, he's gonna find out why Clays been doing all that shit" Jessica said "so what? So, they interview us all one by one, we just lie. I mean we all know how to do that. I got pretty good at it" Tyler said "might not be the answer, speaking from experience" Ani said "they talked to Diego today" Jessica said "and you have Diego handled, right?" Justin asked "heres the thing. Diego's on to us. So isEstella, so is Winston. Foundry heard the tape, and now he's interrogating the whole school, starting with Diego, and who knows what he said" Clay said "they're only doing this because of the parents. My dad told me all the boosters have been calling him. They asked for an investigation and the school caved" Charlie said "so we are dead" Clay said "what if we got our parents back on our side?" Charlie said "but they have, like, computer stats on how much we lie to them. How do we get them to trust us now?" Jessica asked "tell them the truth" Charlie said

And Ani scoffed

And everyone looked at Charlie

"I mean, you don't tell them all the truth. You never tell them everything, but you just tell them enough. Enough that's true to make them trust us again" Charlie said "we're in a war here" Clay said "yeah, and we're losing. We get them back on our side, we might have a chance" Charlie said and Tony nodded agreeing "we ask them to help us stop an investigation?" Jessica asked "not directly. First we get them on our side by confiding in them, and then...we ask them to help us get back prom. It's like a bait and switch. Ease off the police state so we can get back prom, and the investigation quietly goes away before they put it all together" Charlie explained "and they're gonna believe that we care about prom?" Jessica asked "especially me" Zoey said and Charlie turned to the Zoey "I actually do" he said and turned to look at the rest of the group

"Yeah, so do I" Tyler said "yeah, me too" Jessica said "tell our parents the truth" Jessica said "this might be the riskiest thing we've ever done" Clay said

"Bye Charlie" clay said "see you, man" Charlie said and Zoey walked behind Charlie

Clay walked behind Zoey and grabbed her arm

"Zoey, we need to talk" Clay said "about?..." Zoey said confused with a slight smile "about at home...I haven't asked or been there in a while, how's everything at home?" He asked and she smiled "everything's fine, pa is still up and around, and taking walks with Merida" she said and Clay nodded "hug?" Clay said with a smile "woah, did thee Clay Jensen just smile?" Zoey teased and Clay laughed while pulling the girl into a hug

His arms wrapped around her as his chin rested on top of her head and her arms wrapped around his torso

"I love you" Clay said lowly "I love you too" Zoey said while smiling into his chest
