You simply watched as Levi lit a fire while Hange came back with extra firewood. Sleeping in one of the houses would've been the smartest thing to do, but there were only two houses that were still intact. Yours and Floch's. You refused to step anywhere near Floch's belongings and your own house was in an unlivable state.
You hadn't said much after killing Floch, and both Levi and Hange were starting to worry about you. Hange glared at Levi, wanting him to say something. Levi stared back, wanting Hange to be the one starting the conversation, and with a sigh, Hange gave in and spoke, "y/n... um."
"You good?"
"Really, Hange? Really? That's all?"
You scoffed, "Yeah, no, uh. I'm fine... ish."
...
"So-"
"Hange. Don't." Levi interrupted. "Oh, come on, Levi. I have important things to ask about."
Hange turned back to you and continued their attempt to make you feel better. "So, do you remember the fifth night we three spent together?" You blinked, quickly glanced at Levi, then back to them. "... the night when I tried bashing Levi's head in with a bat...?" Levi turned his head, eyes widened.
"No, no. The one before that." - "Oh."
"Yeah, so remember how-"
"You what?!"
You and Hange looked at each other, at Levi, then at each other again. "Anyway-" you sang, avoiding Levi's intense death-glare.
Hange and you continued chatting, occasionally insulting Levi, resulting in him telling the both of you to shut up. Levi's small reactions to every little tease Hange threw his way was already amusing enough, Hange having to hide behind you so Levi wouldn't kill them had you laughing to the point where you almost choked on your own hair after having inhaled it while desperately trying not to run out of oxygen.
Eventually, as the laughter quieted down, your laughter evolved to tears after holding them back for hours. Both Levi and Hange hated seeing you like this and didn't know what to do. Distracting you from the nightmare you were all living had helped to an extent, but you'd have to face reality at some point, which was now.
Hange sat beside you, pulling you close, trying their best to comfort you. Even if Levi kept up his neutral expression, he really did feel bad. He knew all too well what you were going through, having lost both parents and countless friends during the apocalypse. Hange's comfort seemed to help as your body slowly grew more and more tired, presumably from the massive lack of sleep.
