Trees.

Trees...

More trees...

A stone...

Oh! and more trees.

"So, I'm officially lost." It had been days since you last saw a road, let alone a path to follow. You had no idea where you were and you probably didn't have a way of getting out of the endless woods.

The dangers of walking alone is something everyone knew about by now. Wherever you went in this world there would always be some kind of treat. Death could be waiting around every corner and you had to be prepared for everything.

Behind every tree and every stone, there could be a walker hiding. Yeah — a walker.

How it all started was never announced to the public. All you knew was that one day, four years ago, a virus must have spread and they were created. It could have been some sort of experiment gone wrong, but you weren't sure.

Acing feet, sore hands, an empty stomach, and only a wooden bat with spikes and a pocket knife to defend yourself with.

Food had become quite rare over the several years of having to survive in a world with walkers. Every store had been almost completely emptied by now, and whatever food that was left had gone bad a long time ago. Looking around, you hoped to find some sort of hill or a mound. You thought you may be able to locate a road, a path, just something to help you out of the woods.

Anywhere but here was safer.

A sudden shriek interrupted your search. It sounded like another human being. It could be a trick, it could be a trap and it could also just be someone who genuinely required help. You followed the noises of struggle until you saw someone desperately fighting against two walkers. From what you could see, it was a man. His hair was dark but you couldn't make out any more specific details. You looked around to see if there were any more walkers nearby.

There wasn't so you took the risk of helping the man. You griped your bat tightly as you slowly snuck closer to the fight. The man managed to kill off one of the walkers but tripped on a root and fell to the ground. There was no way he'd be able to get up in time to kill the second one too.

'Idiot...'

When you were close enough you sprinted towards it and struck the walker in the back of its head, hard enough to eliminate it on the spot. It fell to the ground with a thud, dark reddish blood slowly oozing out of the wound, staining the grass below.
