"here." you said, handing him a bottle of water as you sat beside him under the tree, wanting to enjoy the current breeze and the nice weather.

karma glances at the bottle of water being handed to him. "why are you giving it to me? shouldn't you be giving it to your sweet crush?" he sneers, obviously referring to isogai.

"i didn't want to drag you into trouble, okay?" you sighed, setting the bottle down on his lap. "i was pressured. i already apologised to yuma earlier."

"i was so confuse when they all started looking at me like i've lost something." the red head says, taking the bottle from his lap and twisting its cap open. "should've enlightened me before."

"sorry." you murmured. "you're petty, so i was worried that you'd get mad about it."

"why would i?" karma asks, taking a sip of the water in the bottle. "it's not like their accusation about our relationship is real."

he says that as if he hadn't confess his love to you before. acting as if that didn't happen is much better than bringing it up and making things awkward between you.

the moment that he had accepted his feelings towards you, he's already aware of your interest towards isogai. unfortunately, he had already expected it to happen and came mentally prepared.

"you're right." you nodded, a smile on your lips as you lean back on the tree behind you. "also, this is a great spot."

"you can have it," karma says, standing up from the grassy ground, tucking his hand inside his pocket. "i have some things to do."

"you sure you aren't mad?" you ask before he can walk further away from where you are.

karma raises his brows, finding it troublesome to turn his head around to face you, just to give you a brief response. "i think so." he replied, proceeding to walk off.

you huffed, crossing your arms against your chest. "what kind of response is that? he might as well just tell me that he's mad." you shifted your head sideways, knowing that if you keep dwell on it, it'll only cause you unwanted stress.

..

"karma! let's go karaoke!" maehara enthusiastically suggested, wrapping his arm around the red head's shoulders. "get your mind off of things, y'know?"

karma didn't want to clear things up. this is the mess that you made and he believes that it should be resolve by you. they can all make up all the misunderstanding they like, but he will never explain the whole thing.

"no, thanks." karma replies, shrugging off maehara's arm off of his shoulder.

"listen, man. i understand you, like, a lot." maehara once again started. he's desperately longing for that man to man conversation with karma. "rejection's tough. but girl's aren't all that-"

the red head turns his head around, his gaze piercing through maehara's grinning face. "but she is all that." he said, leaving his classmate completely dumbfounded.

maehara rushes back inside the classroom where he assumes you are still in. "[ name ]! [ name ]! you heard that?!" he exclaims, his voice filled with excitement as he grabs your upper arm.

"heard what?" you ask, raising a brow.

"you weren't listening?!" maehara whines, wrapping his arm around yours while dragging you to the classroom windows; where both of you are able to get a glimpse of karma walking down the stairway.

"he ditched me again." you murmured. your furrow your brows as you pull your arm off of maehara's grasp. "you're in duty, maehara. i need to go home. see you tomorrow."

the grin on maehara's lips twisted into a frown. he crosses his arm against his chest, letting out a loud huff. "i don't know why you chose isogai when you and karma are the complete copy of each other." he muttered under his breath.

karma grunts as he felt a sudden slap on his back. turning his head, there you greet him with a smile on your lips as you proceed to gently rub the part where you had smack him.

"you're ditching me again?" you asked, still rubbing his back. it seems like he didn't mind at all.

"unlike before, i'm busier now." karma informed. "tell auntie that i wouldn't be able to visit as often as before."

"got it, boss." you nodded.

as both of you walk out of the school gates, karma had to put up with your complaints about the upcoming lessons for this month. he somehow knew that you're only complaining because the topics doesn't interest you.

your blabbering voice eventually soon dies down. not only that but you've also stopped walking. karma only noticed when he was about four stores away from you.

he'd usually notice if something's off about you or if you're bothered about something. but currently, like you, he's also out of it.

"i'm hungry.." karma thought. he turns his head around to see that you're currently occupied with whatever you're looking at inside a certain store.

curious, karma approaches you in hopes that he'll also get to see what made you stop all so suddenly. "darts." he heard you say. "my dad used to play those."

you never spoke of your family, unless it's about your auntie or your cousin. he had never heard the word 'dad' come out of your own mouth. not even once. it's a surprise hearing it now.

when he tried to ask about your parents to your auntie, she immediately shut down the topic by saying: "we don't mention them in this household." after that, he never asked again.

maybe this is the right time to finally ask.

he has always been curious.

what is it about your family back at your hometown that had got you holding such a tight grudge?

"do you hate..your dad?"

you raise your brows, ripping your gaze off of the darts inside the store, looking at karma. "the only person i know who hates him is his sister. auntie, to be clear." you said, referring to your auntie that you're living with. "i don't hate him, i don't love him either. it's kind of complicated."

"is that why you left your hometown?" karma proceeds to question. receiving answers from the questions that he has been piling up only urges him to ask for more.

"ah. i have a different reason for that." you said. "it isn't big, but auntie's a worrywart."

...

"i hope you're okay."

your gaze shot up to karma. despite his stoic expression , you could still hear sincere concern blending in with his usual tone of voice.

raising your hand, you place it casually on top of his shoulder.

"thanks, akabane."
