Part 13 - meliorism

meliorism (noun.) - the belief that the world gets better; the belief that humans can improve the world.

"Dry those tears, Jungkookie. I hate to see you upset."

...what?! She's okay!? My face lights up, and my eyes tear up as i look at her and stand up in a hurry. "Oh my god, y/n! you're awake!!! I'm sorry but i need to go get the doctor, the guys are outside so i'll tell them to come inside to you, i'll be right back!" I say in an excited tone.

She chuckles and nods her head weakly. I turn to run out the door but i stop in the doorway and turn to face her, "I'm so glad you're okay." I confess with obvious relief in my voice and face.

I open the door, "GUYS!!! Y/N IS AWAKE, GO INSIDE TO HER WHILE I GO GET THE DOCTOR!" I exclaim loudly to the boys, who's faces all individually light up in excitement and rush to get through the door to her.

I turn right and run towards the doctors office, the large smile on my face never faltering once.

Yoongi POV

I walk downstairs to the hospital cafeteria and go to the counter. I'm greeted by a short woman at the counter, "Hi! What would you like?" she asks cheerfully.

"ummm...I think i'll have a coffee andddd this chocolate bar," I reply while lifting a small chocolate bar off the small selection they had at the side of the counter. I pay her the money i owe, the woman smiles warmly and nods her head, "One coffee coming up!"

She walks to the machine and starts to make my coffee. I stand leaning on the counter and look around the hospital. It really is sort of beautiful. Even though it is you're standard hospital, they really make an effort to make it as comfortable as possible. It's decorated with flowers and bright colours all around. It's so pretty and oddly soothing.

I close my eyes and take a deep breath. This is the first i've really left her side and it's nice to get a second to myself and collect my thoughts and feelings. "One coffee right here!" The woman says and i turn around to be once again greeted with a smile; the staff here are truly wonderful. I thank her and make my way to one of the vacant tables.

On my way though, i'm interrupted by my phone ringing in my pocket. I take it out and recognise Jin's ID. My heart sinks into my shoes. This could either be really good news or really bad.

I pick up in a hurry, "Hello?? what's the matter? did something happen?" I ask in a panicked voice,my heart pounding so hard against my ribs i feel as if it's about to burst through my chest.

"COME BACK TO THE ROOM RIGHT NOW. Y/N WOKE UP!!" He shouts down the phone and hangs up.

I stand for a second, processing what he just said and next thing you know, i'm racing up the stairs at the speed of light back to her room, abandoning my coffee in the cafeteria.

I reach the doorway and i'm met by that beautiful smile once again, weak but still as beautiful. I can't help but fall to my knees.

"What took you so long?" I choke out, holding back my sobs of happiness. She looks up at me and her smile only gets bigger. Her expression softens, "Yoongi..." She says weakly.

"No, don't speak," I reply and get up off my knees and rush over to her side.

"You IDIOT! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW WORRIED WE ALL WERE; HOW WORRIED I WAS??!?" I exclaim as i look down at her frail body, "it broke our hearts to see you that way."

Y/N POV

With those words my heart shatters. My face falls and i suddenly feel this enormous wave of guilt wash over me. I look down at my hands and manage to clasp them together. I sigh before looking up.

"I'm sorry, I really am. I never expected this to happen and i'm so sorry for making you guys worry but hey, i'm here now so its okay!" I manage to say quietly, smiling lightly at the end.

"Ahhhh, dont be silly y/n! it's not your fault and we know that it, Yoongi is just being harsh." Jimin reassures me as he glares at yoongi for being so rude.

Just then, Jungkook bursts back into the room with the doctor following just behind him. The doctor takes one look at me and has to hold onto the end of my bed to stop himself from collapsing.

"Gosh, Y/N i'm not sure if you're aware of how extremely lucky you are. Anyone else who experienced what you did, would be dead and buried by now. You truly are something else, a miracle some may say. It was incredible you were alive as long as you were in a coma but never did i think you would also wake up." The doctor explains with wide eyes as he's staring at me.

"Either someone up in the sky REALLY likes you or your fate was too close to being fulfilled, you just weren't ready to go yet"
