Cherri Moon was a pleasant woman who gave her last nickel to whomever needed it. Hell she'd do it for anyone. Stranger or not she was there. A friendly hand to help those who where lost.
Most people would see her and smile. She had that glow. People would say,"she's a gaurdian angel that one." You never had to question her motives or what she was thinking. She was just an honest to god good woman.
She worked at the same hospital for over 40 years. She started as a nurse's assistant then moved up to being a nurse.
At the top of her career she became the head nurse. She cared to much for her patients It would show. She'd stop by on her day off to lend a helping hand.
Her husband was Marty Moon. She loved him as much as she loved the work she did for those in need. The sickly.
Marty was the head doctor of surgery. He was the best at what he did.
Cherri like her name blossomed an organished red locks that would run down to the smalls of her back. She was plump and pleasant with a tattoo on her arm that said," i do this for fun"
When cherri turned 74. She had an anuerism in the same hospital she worked. Saint Anthony's. She died there. She was tending to a patient with lung cancer. When she fell over convulsing it led to a seizure.
She had stood above her body saying,"well thats it i guess. No time to debate. its time to get to work.
Her family came to the hospital. She watched them. She put a hand on her daughters. as they looked upon her body crying.
She whispered in their ear,"its ok. I love you and if you ever need me ill be here.
They heard a staticy sound. They would say," thats mom looking on us from heaven.
Cherri spent the next five years. Watching her patience guiding them with her invisble hand. Pushing medication to them. If they had forgotten and even pushed the emergency button to save a man who had a seizure. Even in death she was a saint. Her name had become saint cherri. For all the workers called her that. Saying, "even from the grave shes still looking after us"

As the years passed she didnt change still with her healthy ghostly glow and winning personality. She was alive in a way. Still on our plain of existence. Still helping guiding and that was good enough for her.
She watched marty sulk in sadness everyday. as he seemed to not be able to move on . She'd put a hand on him everyday whispering "just cause im gone doesnt mean my love is."
She would pass the hall everyday watching. She even made a couple of friends. They where ghosts who had died but where stuck in the haunted hospital.
Damon Defunk and Angela Withers.
Damon had been in a coma from a car accident. He was drunk driving and went on the wrong side of the road going head first into oncoming traffic.
Marty had told his family the chances of him coming back where slim and if he did. it might not be worth it. for the damage was extensive. The family pulled the plug.
Angela was a bright and shining college girl with her whole life infront of her. She had been walking home with her books in hand when she had been hit by a car. They rushed her to the hospital. She died there.
The two would join cherri everyday for coffee and doughnuts. Even tho they couldnt eat them. They just sit and enjoy eachothers company.

Some patients could see cherri. The ones that where close to death's door knocking for release but some had left to early for the doorbell to be rung. This made cherri sad for she thought everyone deserved a full life with everything a person could dream of family love and prosperity.
Cherri had met a little eight year old girl named Addie Anders. She had dark brown hair that was now bald. She was very petite for the cancer had hit her hard but the chemo had hit her even harder.  lil addie would still sport the biggest happiest smile no matter the situation the girl always seemed to be happy.
Everyday cherri would visit her. Sometimes she'd sit there for hours. Just to keep her company telling her," your a strong girl. Keep fighting. Youll beat this. Dont give up. I believe in you."
Other times she'd make the little girl laugh with magic tricks moving thing and scaring her mom who had no idea what was going on, flickering lights making people jump but addie would always giggle. Cherri loved addie just like she loved everyone but not everyone she met was nice. Dead or alive cherri had come across some rough ombries.(dont know the spelling for that).

Carl unger was one of those bad spirits who prayed on the weak. sucking there souls in bad health to help his grow with evil intent. He caused mischief. Pulling cords that had no reason to be pulled. Moving clipboard to different rooms. So the doctors would preform the wrong surgery or give them the wrong medication.
Cherri and her two associates would try to get him to go but to no avail. They would chase him away but he'd always come back. Each time stronger more determined. He'd laugh at them saying," one day you three wont be enough and on that day. Ill get you"
This scared cherri but she'd always stand true saying" not in my hospital. This is a house of saints and your not welcomed you devil. Now leave."
Her voice would rumble and shake everything around her. She'd give him a look that sent bullets as it actually sent a burst of light. He'd tuck his tail and run but he wasnt the only evil thing in that hospital.
The past year a mysterious man who wore a trench coat with a black and brown flat brimmed hat had now started to visit the hospital. Appear out of knowhere he did.
Everytime he came someone would die but cherri heard the doctors say. He was their largest doner. He had spent a couple million to help rebuild the childrens wing and even gave them up to date equipment. His name was Sidney Saint-claire. A tall ugly looking fellow but the shadow from the brim of his hat made it hard to see his face but his skin was pale and old leather looking. He was talk lanky and seemed to be hunched over all the time.
When cherri seen him. His vibe gave her the heebie jeebies. He scared her to death if she wasnt already dead she thought if looks could kill.
Everytime she saw him. he'd wink at her and whisper something but she couldn't make out what he was saying. She kept her distance from him for a black smokey figure would follow behind him.

Marty was more than the head surgeon. He ran the whole place. From the finiances down to how many masks or gloves would have to be ordered.
He was a jack of all trades from family doctor to all around good guy. Everyone enjoyed his company. He always smiled saying his hello's cheerful as can be but after cherri's death. It changed. You could tell it took a toll on him from his health down to the sleepless night. Right to being silent around the people he had come to bring so much bliss to.
His daughters Mary and linda would visit him frequently. telling him "take a vacation. visit the rest of your family. You deserve a break dad. Retire you've done enough here" but he believed theres always more to be done.
Maybe his mind didnt want to rest. For if it did. He'd think of his sleeping beauty. his mind never seemed to escape his love. Always thinking of the first time they met. Cherri had her white nurses gown with a red plus and a white hat she always wore. He was trying to be smooth but he wasnt," hey there little lady you look fine as wine. Let me help you with that tray. Which room are you running down too?." She had replied" this is a place for buisness no tom foolery. We have work to do" She snapped her eyes at him and he knew he was in love. He was 78 when she died.
She had been at the hospital a couple of years before marty. Didnt take no bull from anyone.
Marty's routine these last 5 years was simple wake up early, shower, eat his oatmeal and go to work. After he was done with work. He'd stop by her grave and place a pink rose as that was cherri's favorite color infront of her tombstone that read "look to the stars and you'll find heaven. Remember me, for im not gone but on vacation. until we meet again. Under the stars"

Carl unger was a pudgy, short, bald man. In his life he caused nothing but problems and had to be the number one thought on everyones mind.
When anyone that knew Carl seen him walking there way. they'd turn around immediately.
He was a stain on the underbelly of society. One time he even stole candy from a kid. That was his pleasure to make everyone feel as shitty as he did inside.
He'd look in the mirror everyday saying," one for me. None for you" he'd laugh as misery brought him happiness.
Unfortunately one day when he was eating a club sandwich that he stole. He choked on it.
People would say he deserved what he got. He had stolen it from the hospital. Getting in line he pretended to be a patient. In reality that was Carl for ya. Getting anything at a discount. The five finger discount.
In death thou he found himself. That's where he made his stride. He could creep on people who couldnt see him. He could hide a woman purse. He could steal their money. He knew he couldnt spend it but that didnt matter much.
One day he found he had the power to steal souls and this was his new hobbie. For everytime he did it. He felt more alive. More power coercing through him. He felt he could do anything. He just had one problem. The hater brigade.
He despised cherri and everything she stood for. To him she needed to be decapitated. The head of the snake. Then the rest would fall.
The first time he drank a soul was by accident. as most things are. He was creeping on a middle aged man who was being visited by his wife. The man had heart complications and had to stay acouple days to be monitored.
Carl walked up to the lady took her lipstick and wrote on the wall,"your heart is doomed like your marriage". He then hunched himself over the man to trip one of the alarms on the equipment. so the nurses would stop in. He had stared in the mans eyes and took a deep breath. What came out was a swirling bright light.. It shot directly into carls mouth and the rest was history. He loved the feeling and strength. It gave him. Made him feel invinsible like a young man whose ready to run a marathon or have a 3 day bender of love.
Sidney and his dark smokey figure that followed him had stopped and talked to carl once. Cherri had heard the butt end of the conversation. Sidney said to him you scratch my back ill scratch yours. As he had pierced a longing dark look right into Cherri's eyes. It scared her.
7
The days after that conversation. The death toll had gone up and nobody could explain it.
These where people who should of been fine. No real symptoms for death. Minor inconviences at the most. From pneumonia to a fever. They where just gone.
This frustrated marty. He'd say,"did you give em the right medication? What are you doctors doing. This is a hospital we treat the patients not bring them to the death bed."
This made cherri cry for she seen what was happening. The smokey creature from Sidney had gone around killing those poor people. Taking there souls but more than that he would wither away there bodies. They'd look skinny malnourished. You could see there bones. Then their skin would go pale with yellow and purple blotches. They'd just fade away to nothing.

The hospital itself Saint Anthony's was over a hundred years old and it had history. From plague victims to old time fogies. Who had reached the end of there journey.
Many people had crossed its path but alot of people died there. As well for this place was known for it's eerie presence and the hospital itself had a dim look of unpleasantness to it. It seemed as tho the place was cursed and thats what people would say" since that place has opened its been nothing but trouble and misery. You go there you'll surely die!"
The place had a story. As it was built half the crew died from a scaffolding accident and after the place was built there had been nothing but accidents, premature deaths and even unexplainable things where people would come in with one thing like a flu but would end up leaving with a heart murmur. Then their heart would explode a couple of days later. Thats just one example. You could ask a nurse that was working there for over a year and she'd tell you" the lights always seemed to go out. People would wake in trances not knowing what was going on and even that people got sicker from just being there. when they left it would double." So they'd have to come right back .
As it seemed thats what the place wanted.  No way around it. St. Anthony's was haunted with an evil curse. That wouldn't break.
The outside of St. Anthony's  was a dark shade of brown and old gold. It was made of bricks, dusty and old. It had a smell that was unique to itself. It looked beaten up and the years had shown that. It was poorly kept up for the money wasnt coming in and hadnt been for years.
Marty tried his best tho. He held dinners for investors, threw banquets and even put adds online and in the paper but there were no takers. No one wanted to touch the place.
The inside didnt look any better.as the lights had to be replaced every couple of days for they wouldnt stay lit or seemed to explode with no explanation. The halls where always dim and the rooms seemed to be lit up in the middle of it but was aways shaded at the corners and around the room itself. Marty thought" at least the equipment worked."
But from time to time that too would fail or give false readings. The cat scans and mri machines would wig out making noises and short curcuit. Sometimes when people would get xrays the radiation would spike. This concerned everyone but when it came to getting it fixed. The repair man would say there's nothing wrong with it.
The children's ward was the worst. There always seemed to be alot of kids that were always sick just like little addie anders.
Addie has been at St. Anthony's for six months. She seemed to get better the last month but had suddenly fell back downwards. becoming worse. Cherri could see this. She didnt like it. Thought addie had looked better felt better but then she had fainted one night spitting out blood.
Cherri used all her strength to turn her on her side pushing the emergency button for help.
Most kids there didnt survive. The morgue was full of people. There families feared the place so much they wouldnt pick their bodies for they thought they'd die from just being there and they were probably right.
