Black Roses~1.

The harsh cold winds blew against my arms in the thin blue polo, as I stepped off the bus. I heard the doors shut behind me as I trailed down the long winding road.

Once I escaped from the walkway through the trees, I caught sight if my house. I saw bubbles escaping from the front garden. I ran over to where I saw the small four year old in my mothers arms as she held the bubble wand to his mouth.

"Hey Keelan!" I called, he burst from my mum's arms, running over to me, I dropped my back pack to the floor.

Once he reached me, I picked him up lifting him into the air, before bringing him back down for a hug.

"Hello!" He exclaimed with excitement. I gave him a kiss on the cheek before letting him run over to mum, I picked up my bag heading over to my mum. She was smiling as Keelan ran around with the bubbles.

"Hey love." She smiled, I plonked down onto the next to her watching my younger brother.

Her phone buzzed and I saw my dad's ID pop up. She took the phone answering and heading to get some peace inside. I saw Kee as he ran chasing the bubbles, he was so lucky, he still had years till secondary school. I would kill to be his age again.

My mum rushed back out, grabbing her bag.

"Scarlett, I have to go and help your father with the new arrival can you watch Keelan. Thanks love seen you in a bit." She said kissing my head then telling Keelan to stay with me, he ran over to me and hugged me.

"Where is mummy going?" He questioned as she drove off in a rush.

"To pick up the new ill people." I said and I took his hand leading him inside. I closed the door, locking it behind me. He ran into the living room to play with his cars. I walked over to my mums office and tried the door, it was locked.

I walked back to find Keelan trying to reach the TV remote on top of the TV.

"Kee! You should have asked me," I told him pulling him away and picking up the remote, I sat back on the couch and called him over. He sat in my lap as I put in How to Train Your Dragon on. He snuggled into me as the movie progressed and before long, we were both fast asleep.

I was awoken by thunder, outside was pitch black and the TV was still running with the late night teleshopping. Keelan was still fast asleep. I had noticed that no other lights were on.

A flash of light shone through the windows of my house, realising it was mum and dad, I picked up Keelan. I gently carried him upstairs, tucking him under the sheets. I kissed his head before heading back downstairs.

I carried my bag upstairs, turning as I heard the door unlock.

"Right boys, I only have one spare room but there is two beds and I have more a double mattress into the floor. I have a 16 year old daughter and a four year old son, so if you see them introduce yourself." I heard my mothers voice.

"My husband, Jaime, will bring in your bags and leave them downstairs, if you just go get a good nights sleep, I'll meet you down here at 9 sharp for the house rules." My mother said and there was a deep but quiet thank you. I heard noises on the steps and before I knew it I was face to face with a brown eyed, tattooed, pierced teenage boy. I quickly scurried to my room closing and locking the door behind me.

I tried to shake the heartless look in his eyes before I changed and climbed into bed.
