"I don't think this is necessary." I say to Mr. Kim, an awkward silence coming from me after as I hold the bouquet of roses in my hand.
"It is." Mr. Kim says, a happy expression on his face.

"You're literally my professor, this is like illegal."
I give him a hard stare after I finish.
"I know," he says with a boxy smile, his eyes on me as he gives me a weird expression.
"So why are you doing this when you know it's illegal?" I ask in curiosity.

"Because you're different."
I watch him, not really understanding the meaning behind his words.
"Anyways, class starts soon, so I'll be going now. Make sure to put those up before you leave though, you don't want to go to class with roses," he says playfully.

"Why would you give these to me right before class anyway if I was going to be late dipshit!" I gave him and irritated glare, not caring if I cursed or not since I knew he wouldn't do anything.

He only laughed and waved me off, leaving me to run to my dorm quickly to put the stupid flowers up.

The scowl on my face was evident as I watched two matches finally realize that they're soulmates.
They both had the symbol of a book, the interest they both commonly share.
One of the girls had it on her thigh, while the other girl had it on her forearm.

People bonded by interests, and were paired by the symbol of their interest.
No more than three have the same symbol, all shared interests varying.

My symbol was on my face, a big square shape on my left cheek, the word art in small letters inside of it, different colors filling that square around and behind the words.

But the thing was that I absolutely hated art.
When soulmates shared interests, it was with something that they like.

I've never seen someone have a shared symbol with something that they hate.
It was unheard of.
I hated that symbol for multiple reasons, even went as far to cut my cheek off with a knife at the age of nine.

Too bad the skin grew back with the exact same symbol on it.
I watched the couple, watching how both of the girls kissed, happy expressions on their face.

I noticed how the forearm girls grip on the other was too tight, how the other girl was uncomfortable, a scared expression on her face.
I watched as they walked away, sipping my black coffee.

I decided not to do anything.
It wasn't like I could help them anyway.
I learned that the hard way at the age of thirteen.
The thigh girl looked around, watching as everyone was too busy, eyes on anything but her, ignoring her.

She then locked gazes with me, her eyes desperate as the other girl pulled her into an alleyway.

Law 4, do not engage into any soulmate relationship, or you will be sentenced to five years in prison.

I sighed as I continued to look into the pleading girls eyes, feeling an emotion I haven't felt in years.

I leave my coffee at the the table outside, not planning on returning.
I put my hoodie up, making sure that it covers my face well.

"I have such a good heart."
I say sarcastically, already fed up with my own bullshit.
