History:
Orzala was kept a secret: no one outside of the palace walls knew of her existence. King Bumi, her grandfather (her mother's father), taught her earthbending at a young age, and she mastered her art by the age of 12. She also learned that she was able to sandbend at the age of 13, and therefore keeps a satchel full of sand with her at all times (much like Katara with her water skin).
Her mother, Eloh, passed during childbirth, and her father was rumored to be dead. At least, that's what they had hoped. Orzala's father was thought to be a ruthless man, and the King of Omashu was determined that she would never meet him. When Eloh discovered she was with child, she fled to her father in Omashu, claiming that no one must ever know of Orzala's heritage.
