The Hurt Locker; part 1

"Rachel, Kurt, meet our nephew Eddie." Blaire said as she carried Eddie into the auditorium whilst everyone was warming up. Sue JD decided to do an invitational." He's staying with us for two weeks whilst Cooper and Steph go on a romantic getaway."

"Aww he's so cute. He looks so much like Cooper." Kurt said. Blaire smiled.

"Auntie Bear." Eddie said. Blaire looked up at him." Dance time?"

"He's taken a keen interest in dance. Oh look, there's mr Schue." Blaire said. Rachel walked over to him as Ash walked over to his wife and nephew." Hi."

"Hi. How's the whole babysitting at work going?" Ash asked with a chuckle as Blaire passed Eddie to him.

"He is so intrigued with everything." She explained with a chuckle as Ash rested Eddie against his hip. Eddies stroller was in the office in the choir room along with a bag full of toys. Eddie was currently holding a toy dinosaur. He showed it to Ash." Plus, he's potty trained. So, when he needs to go potty he will just say."

"Cooper trained him fast." Ash chuckled. Blaine was talking to Kurt and Rachel as the Warblers all warmed up behind him. Eddie looked up and saw him.

"Uncle Bane!" He said excitedly. Ash placed him on the ground and ran over to Blaine.

"Eddie. Hey buddy!" Blaine greeted with a wide smile, picking his nephew up quickly. He kissed his cheek." Listen, I have to go work real quick. You gotta go back to auntie Blaire and Uncle Ash."

"Okay." Eddie said as Blaine placed him back on the ground with a smile. Eddie walked back over to Blaire and held her hand.

"Oh my god. It's Dave. There's an intruder at our apartment!" Blaine gasped as his phone went off.

"Ash, Blaire. Stay here." Kurt instructed as Blaine, Rachel and Kurt rushed out of the auditorium.

"Okay. Cool." Blaire said. Eddie looked up at her and then at the other glee clubs, who were warming up.

"Dance time?" He asked.

Blaire walked through the hallway of her apartment that night. She looked into the bathroom at where Ash was making Eddie laugh in the bath. She chuckled and watched them with a smile.

"Okay, mister. Clean warm pyjamas and then bedtime." Ash said. Eddie was sleeping on a little air mattress next to their bed, on Blaire's side.

Ash helped Eddie put on some dinosaur pyjamas, continuing to make him laugh as they did so. Then the two saw Blaire watching and Eddie rushed over to her.

"Bedtime! Bedtime! Bedtime!" He said excitedly, bouncing up and down. Blaire chuckled and picked him up, taking him into the bedroom. Ash followed and Blaire sat Eddie down on the bed. He lied down under the covers and smiled." I forgot my bear."

"You can borrow Barnaby and Eden if you want?" Blaire suggested as Ash passed them to her. Eddies face lit up with a wide smile.

"Yes please!" He said excitedly. Blaire passed them to him and he hugged them tightly. Then the two made up a story for him until he fell asleep. They smiled at one another.

"Related to Dave Karofsky?" Blaire asked Blaine the next day. They were at a park with Eddie. Ash was playing with him.

"Apparently." Blaine said." But it has to be fake. Our parents names were put down as Cynthia and Todd."

"Oh my god!" Blaire said and she burst out laughing. So did Blaine.

"And you and Cooper weren't even on there. So it has to be fake." He chuckled.

"Uncle Bear!" Eddie called out, running over to him excitedly. Blaine smiled and sat him down on his lap. Ash walked over with a smile on his face.

"Having fun?" Blaire asked him. He gave an enthusiastic nod." Good."

"I've got it!" Rachel said the next day as she walked into the choir room with Kurt and Ash. Blaire was sat with the other five, Eddie sat on her lap.

"Well, we've got it." Kurt said.

"We've got the first two songs for invitationals." Ash said.

"Don't we need more people just to participate in invitationals?" Roderick asked.

"And why is there a two year old?" Anastasia asked.

"This is my nephew. We're babysitting him." Blaire replied. Eddie smiled up at her and she smiled back." Also, you don't need a full glee club for invitationals."

"It's a trial run for future competitions." Kurt added." No judges or prizes."

"More stage time for us." Madison whispered.

"Twinning." Her and Mason said at the same time, high fiving.

"Now I get why Artie found it creepy when Blaine and I did that." Blaire said. Eddie showed her his dinosaur toy. She smiled.

"And this is where my new piano skills will help us out." Rachel said.

"You're what now?" Blaire asked. Rachel walked over to the piano and played it badly. Her and Kurt cringed.

"That hurts, auntie Bear. Make it stop!" Eddie whined, covering his ears. Ash held in a laugh and Rachel stopped playing the piano. Eddie uncovered his ears.

"Th-there is no winner or loser at invitationals, but just like a debutante ball or a quinceañera, it is your chance to introduce yourself to the show choir world." Rachel explained.

"We're gonna be up against some of the greatest show choirs in Ohio——in America—— and the warblers and vocal adrenaline have a very strong history, so this is our chance to show them what we're up against." Ash explained.

"So we're screwed." Roderick sighed.

"We're screwed." Kurt mumbled.

"Hi Daddy. Hi mommy!" Eddie said on the phone the next night. He was sat on Ash's lap on the couch. Blaire was holding the phone and it was on speaker phone.

"Hi baby!" Stephanie said. They could tell she was smiling by her tone of voice.

"Hey Buddy, you having fun with auntie Blaire and uncle Ash?" Cooper asked.

"Yeah. I also saw Uncle Bane. He seems angry." Eddie explained." I think it's because Uncle Kurt broke up with him."

"Yeah...yeah I think that too, kiddo. I think that too." Cooper said.

"Are you enjoying going to a big big school?" Stephanie asked.

"Yeah. It's fun. I dance." Eddie replied. Everyone chuckled." And I play with dinos. Roar!"

"We even invested in getting the Dino nuggets." Ash said. Cooper laughed." He loves them."

"He's addicted to them. He asks for them every night." Blaire added.

"He really loves his dinosaurs." Stephanie said." Have you watched Jurassic Park with him yet? He loves that movie."

"We watched it last night. Ash fell asleep on the couch." Blaire chuckled.

"I was so tired." Ash said. Eddie yawned." I think that's a cue for bed time."

"We'll see you soon, Eds!" Cooper said.

"We love you!" The two chorused. Eddie smiled widely.

"Love you!" He chuckled. Then they hung up. He smiled at his aunt and uncle.

"Please direct your blank stares to the curtain behind me." Sue said the next day at invitationals. Eddie was sat on Blaire's lap." Soon, it will open and there will be blood sport. Happy hunger games! May the odds be ever in your favour."

Everyone sat in shock as they watched Vocal Adrenaline perform. Eddie was dancing a little in Ash's lap, which was very contrasting to the atmosphere from everyone else. Then the song changed from Rock Lobster to Whip It. They had whips and acrobatics going on. Blaire looked at Blaine, who looked at her. This was insane! The performance ended and everyone clapped. Eddie applauded too, slowly as he was amused at the sound. Blaire and Ash glanced at one another.
