That day had been fun. The Doctor had taken Rose to a far off distant planet called Woman Wept. They'd been before, many times but this time felt special. It was Christmas and the inhabitants of the planet had been bouncing around in song and dance and the whole towns and cities had been decorated with sparkly things that Rose loved. Christmas was her favourite time of year and the Doctor was her best friend, maybe more, so the two together should have been heaven to her.

But it wasn't.

They walked back towards the TARDIS and the Doctor reached into his pockets to search for the key. Rose looked solemnly towards the ground. "I want to go home."

The Doctor froze and like in action movies, Rose felt her world fall into slow motion. The alien looked up at her with such sorrow in his expression that she felt her heart shatter into a million pieces.

He opened his mouth to speak but no words left his throat. They were trapped, locked up behind metaphorical bars.

Rose swallowed hard. "It's nothin' personal," she began, her throat closing up. "I just want to go home." She bit her lip and refused to look up from the snow covered ground in front of the TARDIS.

In a few moments, the door was opened and the pair jumped in. The Doctor ran straight for the console and Rose slowly tiptoed behind him. He cleared his throat and started pushing various buttons. "You should proberly pack then or something." His back was turned away from the girl and his eyes never left the flashing controls. She walked forward and stopped herself reaching up and putting a hand on his shoulder. Instead, she nodded slowly and walked off into a corridor. The Doctor watched her shadow fade away and once she was gone, cried.
