"And you just 'blurted out' "Stuf-"
""Stuff your job!" Yeah that's right."
Rose was now at home, sat on the sofa, multi-tasking. Multi-tasking because she watching an 'interesting' documentary on TV, whilst her mother lectured her on the importance of having a job and earning a wage, or something. She wasn't really listening. She'd learnt from last experiences however, that she had to nod or agree at every break in her mother's speech. Otherwise, as Rose already knew, a whole lot more lecturing would come her way.
Half an hour later, once her mother had stopped, Rose was able to finally relax.
"Oh and by the way," Jackie said whilst walking into the kitchen.
Rose sighed. "What now?"
"Oi! Madam! Attitude!" Rose rolled her eyes at her mom.
"There was a call for you. Didn't listen. 'Cause of private stuff and that. I saved the number though, check it on your phone." Jackie sighed and smiled off into the distance. "It could be a tall, dark, handsome stranger..." And with that, she was gone. Off in her little dream world.
Rose sighed again and picked up the telephone. 'Yeah right!' She thought. She dialed Voicemail and waited for the beep. The message played and her body froze.
It was The Doctor.
Six months later.
And the message scared her more.
"Is this working? Rose? Are you there? I guess not. Listen, if you get this then...I'm in trouble, deep trouble."
A pause that lasted forever.
"I need you."
