Preparing for Christmas, as it was only tomorrow, not realizing the stack pile of chicken that the estate has because of Shinobu and Kanao bringing some home.
You walked into what looks to be a dining area, through the doorway you saw a mistletoe hanging above it, you have to be watchful for that.
In the dining area looked a little cramped, luckily there weren't any more people than just 7 (including you), it looked makeshift and temporary as the table looked out of place.
There was a fairly large window; looking outside you caught a glimpse of Aoi hanging out clothes.
"おはよう! Aoi!" (ohayou, good morning) you waved at her, she turned and saw you, she lit up like a Christmas tree.
"(Y/N)! Y-you're back!"
"I said I'll be back didn't I?"
"I knew that but, so soon" she was just outside the window, you caught a blush on her cheeks.
"I'm (Y/N), a hashira, you can expect me to be back by a day or two" you placed your elbow on the window sill, leaning on the wooden structure.
"Well I'm glad you're back" you never saw Aoi this happy before "here, can you please take these clothes into the closet" she handed you a stack of plain white hospital shirts, you gladly took them and placed them in the closet a few rooms down the hall.
"Oh you're back already" Shinobu's familiar voice sounded behind you, her calm demeanor and constant blank smile, but you sensed something else from within her, deep resentment and anger, hidden well in her smile.
You ended up staring at her blankly, which caught her attention.
"Do you hate me?" you spoke plainly. This took Shinobu by surprise.
"No, why would you think that?"
"Well that's because every time I'm with you, you always seem angry, when we met I told you I had some kind of aura sensing ability, I sensed a deep sense of hatred buried underneath your smile" you read her again, she wasn't lying about not hating.
"It happened a long time ago, around 3 years ago... that was when my beloved sister was killed by a demon. My sister was a kind-hearted person, who even on the brink of death, still felt pity for the demons... I never understood her way of thinking, I could never bring myself to feel pity for demons, and how could you? Demons eat humans so they must be killed with no mercy. But if that's how my sister truly felt then I must carry on her legacy, her smile in mine, but this mindset gets exhausting. Demons do nothing but lie." sadness was now the most prominent aura.
"Shinobu" you stood up to meet her gaze (even though she's 20 cm shorter than you). "I think your sister would be proud of you, you tried your hardest but when things carry on for too long, sometimes it's best to just let it go" you placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled, she felt at ease.
"Thank you Tomioka-kun," she said and left, and you left afterward and closed the closet door.
Stretching your arms above your head, you decided to do a quick freestyle on the dummy, you wanted to practice your combat skills whilst keeping total concentration breathing.
You took 5 minutes, before deciding to have a bath and wash your uniform.
Coming out refreshed and clean with your comfortable doctor outfit, it was past noon. You slumped down on the chair in your dark office, lighting up a lamp, holding up a dish up to the lamp to see better, you observed the blood under a handmade microscope.
Tamayo sent you one of her projects, known as the 'Anti-Kibutsuji Drug', it was a 4 stage drug and was very powerful, it would gravely Muzan and would definitely help in a final battle against him.
The first stage is 'Human Conversion stage', as the name says it would theoretically turn a demon back into a human, you sent blood samples from you to Tamayo as your blood seemed to be immune to demon blood, you also examined your own blood to see the difference between yours and regular humans.
The second stage is the 'Aging stage' that will be used if the human conversion stage didn't work. This idea was proposed by Shinobu, it would theoretically age Muzan 50 years per minute or 3000 years in an hour.
The third stage is the 'Division Prevention stage' it would activate after the aging stage, it would prevent Muzan from splitting and escaping; Tamayo claims to see Muzan perform this act when he was battling the first demon slayer Yorichii Tsugikuni.
The final stage of the drug will be 'Cellular Destruction' as the name implies this stage would completely destroy Muzan to a cellular level since this drug will be so potent that the Muzan's body would be too weak to heal and his near-indestructible body will lose its defense and would then be finally killed.
Except all this was theoretical, and the likeness of a drug of this power scale being created is low and whether or not you will be alive to see it happen is a question you ask yourself frequently.
'Thank god Tamayo is a demon' you sighed in relief.
You kept on writing notes about the behavior of blood cells in the samples you've collected. A familiar meow was heard in the office, you didn't realize it was already sundown, you gave the cat your notes in return you took several notes that Tamayo wrote for you.
"Hey (Y/N), it's time for dinner" Aoi called out from the end of the hall.
"Coming!" you called back.
Entering where you remembered the dining room was, the table was stacked with chicken.
"Merry Christmas," the 3 small girls at the table said
"Merry Christmas," you said back.
"Shall we eat?" Shinobu said.
"Itadakimasu" everyone at the table said and began eating the chicken served on the plates.
You never really paid attention to it, but the whole butterfly manor was decorated for Christmas, there was a tree that was decorated (using cosmetics for its time obviously), there were even hung up posters with Merry Christmas written in Japanese.
The most important element of course was the chicken, it was cooked in several different ways as well, some of them were teriyaki fried and some were just fried in breadcrumbs, (search up chicken katsu and you'll know what I mean).
Aoi was sitting next to you, she must have been lost in her dreams because she 'accidentally' spilled her cup of tea all over you. Mental screams were not unheard from the rest of the table, snapping Aoi out of her trance and saw you in pain.
"Oh my! (Y/N)! I am so sorry!" she tried to clean up but you rejected saying it's just fine.
You left the table to change into clean clothes. Whilst Aoi sat in guilty silence.
"I should apologize" she stood up frantically and was making her way to the doorway until she bumped into you.
"Oops, sorry" you spoke nervously, you tried to go around Aoi, but you saw the rest of the people at the table smiling, "what is it?"
Aoi looked even more nervous, whilst you kept being confused about the situation until eventually looking up at the conveniently placed mistletoe on the frame of the doorway.
"So do we..." you tried speaking trying not to sound nervous but was failing drastically. Aoi looked up at you with her deep blue eyes staring into your deep red, she closed the distance between her and you. Feeling her nervous aura fade away as she pressed her lips against yours. You didn't know how long you kissed for, it must have only been 3 seconds but felt like minutes.
She separated from you, looking into your deep red eyes half-lidded, blushing madly, with you having the same hue on your face. She smiled wholeheartedly and walked back to the dinner table, the rest happily smiling at the ordeal. It took you a second or 2 to snap back to what had just happened and followed Aoi back to the dinner table.
'Merry Christmas'
(I know it's not Christmas yet, but it made sense to the plot)
(side note, it is Tanjiro's birthday, July 14th)
