City Built on the Docks

Shortly after your visit to Urokodaki's your crow returned and gave you another mission. This mission took place right on the shore, it was a fisherman's village.

It took you a day and a half to arrive there, by that time it was already well past dusk. The lights were illuminating the sea, the floor was barely visible and the light was reflected against the scales of the fish below.

All the boats were tied to the posts and rested, only some were being pushed with the movement of the waters. Everyone was surprisingly friendly, they even offered you live squid in which you politely denied.

"Oh, you're here for the missing people. Well that's strange we already have 2 people working for the case"

"Oh really, who?"

"2 siblings by the name of Watanabe Akikane and Ayako"

'SHIT!' the color drained from your face 'so that's his name, I never thought that I'll be seeing him soon, especially half a year after new year's!'

"Are you ok?" the villager clearly noticed your pale face

"U-uh y-yes I'm fine... heh heh" the villager gave you a weird look as you said goodnight and quickly left the scene.

'God damn it, firstly I have to do a mission with Ayako and now her brother, this couldn't get any worse' you headed into the nearest inn, paid for a room for a heavy price. Washed up and sat in the bathwater for around 30 minutes, contemplating.

'How in the world am I going to manage this' you sank deep into the bath 'I hope she doesn't hate me' you sank even deeper until your head was fully under the bath.

Morning came and you woke up feeling just fine, until the dread of meeting the 2 sets in.

'Fuck' you cursed again.

You dressed in your usual outfit, with the additional sword and knives at hand.

The village was vibrant and large, as many sailors journeyed on their boats to bring in a new catch every day. Breakfast was sweet, with the side of takoyaki, in fact, you ordered more takoyaki to bring along the trip. Walking down the wooden docks was nice for a minute until you bumped into someone.

"O-oh sorry," you said rubbing your head, the person you bumped into barely moved, he was built like a brick wall.

"Oh, it's you" you looked up in confusion. There was a young boy but was so muscular at the same time, his hair was long but tied up at the back his eyes were also blue that slowly faded to black. "I can remember a familiar face when I see one, I don't think that we've ever properly met since the final selection, my name is Watanabe Akikane"

"Tomioka (Y/N)" you responded back, meeting the person you mutually saved more than 4 years ago.

"My sister has told me a lot about you, especially what you did 3 years ago" you were happy that Akikane didn't hate you "and about how you absolutely broke her heart on New Year's"

The color drained from your face, you were so sure that he will be angry about new year's only for your fears to be relieved by Akikane's words but now it has pulled you back.

"Ha ha haha! That look on your face!" Akikane laughed out loud, you were taken back by this motion "don't worry Tomioka-Kun, she won't be angry at you and neither will I" now you could breathe, you didn't even know you were holding your breath.
