Louis' P.O.V.

For the next two weeks we lived the same way. We went to bed hungry every night. I could hear Amber's stomach growling at night when we layed down. I'm sure she could hear mine, too. I was almost positive that they'd stopped looking for us.

We thought we'd try to spear fish in the lagoon again. After several failed attempts, I came incredibley close to getting one. I got so mad, that I broke the branch I was using over my knee. Amber was quite amused by that.

The days went by slowly. Amber was getting quiet, and she started to sleep more and more. I often caught her wiping her eyes and trying to hold back tears.

I saw her looking up at the sky.

"They're not coming back, babe. Don't waste your time waiting," I told her.

She looked down and I saw a tear fall from her face to the sand. I sat down beside her, and neither of us said anything.
