The long awaited Friday is finally here. I'm doing great sticking to the schedule. I got up to the bathroom as I checked my face in the mirror. Thankfully, the bags disappeared and I know I don't look like I've been ran over by a bus. I'm sure I spent close to ten minutes there.
Do I deserve to be happy? Am I supposed to move on? An internal voice answered, "if your mother and sister were still alive, do you think they'd love to see you this way? Broken and looking hopeless?"
Using this as my encouragement, I resumed my personal business as I washed myself clean. We get to go out by 1pm. I settled for a grey hoodie top with black pants and black sneakers. I don't take any purse cause I hate to carry them."Hello." I said to Teni as I laid down on the couch.
"You sure can't wait for your Prince charming." He smirked.
"Whatever."
"Wake up joor. We're walking to that cinema. Genesis cinema. It's not too far from here." Teniola kept talking as I drifted off.
"Ow." I said touching my head. He sure knows how to wake someone.
"Now get up. You don't want to keep Prince charming waiting." He smirked again. We got to the cinema shortly.
"Hey, my favorite person is here." Tobi said as he acted like he was going to hug Teni and came to me. "You look good by the way.""When you're done checking my cousin out, open the holes in your head to see me." Teni said.
"Don't be jealous." Tobi replied as he took my hand in his as we walked into the cinema.
"Can we watch living in bondage?" I asked.
"Yeah sure. Go in, I'll meet you." Tobi kissed my cheek.
The mind this guy has.He and Teni went back to talk about something I don't care about.
* * *
"Wow, the movie was dope. Can you remember how..." Tobi clamped his hand on my mouth."Don't spoil the movie for others joor." He laughed.
We got outside the cinema. "Where's Teni?" I asked.
"He went home." He replied casually. "I'll take you back."
"Okay o." I answered
"Be my girlfriend." He blurted.
You say wooh?
I just stood there, dazed was an understatement. I do like him, but if he starts with ever since I met you..."Look, I like you. Everything about you, your personality. When I say something stupid, you put me in my place." He continued.
I've not said anything.
"The other day I injured my wrist was when I told Teniola. He said I had to fight for you, with him."
I've officially lost my voice."It's okay if you don't feel the same way, but please say something before I make assumptions."
Oh God restore my voice."Okay." He sighed. "Let's get you home.
"Wait." I grabbed his arm. God finally answered my prayers. "I like you too. A lot. Though we just met and all, the distance." I trailed.
"I get it. That's why I came with this." He got on one knee with a velvet box in hand.
He's gonna propose?"Oh common. Who would willing want to get married at my age?" I sighed.
"Jeez, calm down. It's a promise neck chain. I like you too much to let you go. If you promise me that you'll come back, I promise to wait, even if it takes forever. Are you promising me that?" Be said completely filled with emotions.
I took in a deep breath, "yes." He got up to clasp the hook of the not too expensive silver necklace round my neck, brushing his fingers against my neck in the process.
He tickled my side and I laughed. "So it's safe to say I'm taken right?"
"By me. Only me." His voice sounded raspy and came as a whisper close to my ear. "
Shivers"Distance might be an issue, my aunt stays in Abeokuta." He said as he wrapped his arms around my shoulders as we walked home. He started singing:
You sweet pass mango, you sweet pass àgbálùmọ'
No know where I wan go ọmọ mí ò má gbádùn mọ
Na only you fit heal me baby don't goYou said let's be friends oh let's take it gently baby
Me I no get Benz oh, I no get Bentley baby
All I got is love for you (for you)
Baby ṣe'oun gbọ' pé mí lórúkọ...
I laughed, "I would have continued, but your irugbon is small."
"But it's still there."It was all a dream. A dream come true. I thought I would end up living with 50 cats in my father's house. Whatever charm this guy might have used on me totally worked.
We got to the front porch already and I received a text from Teniola:
"Finish up whatever you guys are doing before my mum suspects anything. P.S: I told her you wanted to watch sugar rush."
"Thanks for tonight and..." Soft warm lips met mine and moved slowly in harmony.Hello wonderful people. They finally confessed their feelings. What do you think about the two of them? The song is "need you" by fireboy dml.
