"Hey babe." Tobi hugged me as he came in with Teniola. He should seriously stop calling me that.
I stepped back to take a look at him. He is wearing a blue tee shirt and black joggers with new balance sandals. On his left palm was his phone and a completely different wrist watch.
I hope I'm not looking at this boy too much sha.Ah, his has a bandage on his right wrist.
"What happened to your wrist?" I asked as I checked it. Teniola coughed and went upstairs.
"I-um slipped." He said avoiding eye contact.
"Really?" I ask."Yeah sure." He went to the fridge to get something then later went to Teni's room.
I picked up my phone to video call Dad.
"Hello Daddy." I smiled into the camera. It's good to see his face again. But imagining an unknown woman beside him made my smile falter."Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yes sir. You said you were going to call me." I smiled back.
"I'm sorry dear. I got caught up at work." He sighed. I could see the stress lines and bags under his eyes.
"No worries dad. I called already." I tried to cheer him."Hey, I want you to see someone." He said. Just then, the cameras shifted to a beautiful woman in her mid forties smiling at me.
"Hello. Segun has told me so much about you. I hope to talk more and see your face really well.
In your dreams
You're looking good by the way."I couldn't even reply. I was tongue-tied. Is this the business? Could it be her?
"Hello, hello..." Dad took the phone.
"I can't hear you o. I think it's network. Later bye." I quickly ended the call. I tossed my phone on the seat in the living room as I hurried my head in my palms. Something is not adding up. Is Father lying to me? I kept sighing. Tears are almost falling. Almost.
"Are you okay?" A voice asked. I didn't respond. Two palms embraced me. It was Tobi.
"You'll be fine." He said as he rubbed my shoulders.
"I thought you were going home." A voice coldly echoed the living room. Definitely Teniola.
"I was until I met her like this." He replied.
"I'm here now so you can leave." Teniola said.
Something definitely came upI raised m my head as Tobi was leaving. "Okay. Take care babe." I didn't miss the glare Teni shot Tobi.
I wiped the tears that managed to fall. "What happened between you two?" I asked.
"Something came up and you should stop crying like a baby everytime. If necessary you'll know." He answered without looking up from his phone.
"Mi o ki n se omode o ehn ehn." I murmured.
One look from him made me swallow my words.Mi o ki n se omode - I'm not a child o.
