I got back from Madison's as Andy was leaving the house. "Where are you going?" I asked.
"Ricky's. You wanna come? I'll be back late."
"No thanks. I might hit up the mall or something with Madison. I'll be back late, too. Have fun!"
"You too!" And then he slammed the door shut. This is easier than it should be. I heard clanging in the kitchen and I groaned internally. I knew I couldn't be that lucky. I walked in to see my dad cooking dinner, "Hey, daddy!"
My dad turned and smiled. I walked over and gave him a kiss on the cheek, "What's up, kiddo? Want something for dinner?"
"No thanks, dad. I'm going out. Do you need anything? I won't be back until later though."
"That's completely fine. I'm on call tonight so I might be heading over to the hospital after a quick dinner. Call me if you need anything!"
"I will!" Maybe I am that lucky. I ran up the stairs as I only had an hour to get ready and I still had to shower. I quickly dried my hair, but didn't put any makeup on. It was getting colder, and Jason said to go casual with dark colors. I put on dark jeans, with a black sweatshirt, and black chucks. I really hoped he wasn't planning on trespassing anywhere. I definitely wasn't doing that. With fifteen minutes to spare, my dad yelled up saying he was leaving. I ran down the stairs after that to make sure he left before Jason got here.
When he left and Jason still didn't arrive, I breathed out a sigh of relief. I was definitely coming clean if this date went well. I can't keep living like this.
I heard Jason pull up, so I stood to get the door. I locked the door and when I turned around he was just at the porch steps. "Anxious much?"
"I figured I would save you the trouble of ringing the doorbell. Especially with my brother being home," I wanted to laugh when panic went through his face as he let the information in.
"Wait, where's his car then?" He asked with a triumphant smirk.
I shrugged my shoulders, "In the shop."
Jason's eyes widened, and in the next second he had his hand wrapped around mine, pulling me towards the truck. I giggled, not being able to help myself. Jason stopped in his tracks. "You should've seen your face," I giggled and he rolled his eyes.
"I knew you wouldn't have been so calm if Andy was actually home," he shook his head smiling. "Come on, let's go. Our date awaits."
I hopped in to the open door and he ran over to the other side. "So where are we going tonight?" I noticed he was dressed in black jeans with a dark grey hoodie and black nikes. "We aren't breaking in anywhere are we?"
Jason laughed, "I wanted to play along with that, but there's no way I could've kept a straight face. We are going to Laser Craze."
"Seriously?" I asked dead panned. I hadn't done laser tag since my tenth birthday.
"Don't knock it. My friends and I go every so often. I know a guy who will give us three games for the price of one. If you don't like it after the first game, we can go to the movies. Or the club," he winked at me and I rolled my eyes.
"You need to bring out the inner child. It's extremely healthy," Jason looked over at me pointedly. I rolled my eyes in return, "Spoken by an eighteen year old who still acts like he's eight."
"That, my friend, will help keep me going in..." He cut off and I looked over at him. He bit his lip, and refused to look at me. I raised my eyebrows and decided to drop it. It's not like we are in a relationship. He isn't obligated to tell me anything. I didn't tell him about my mom.
