"Sibling bonding!" Andy screamed from down the hall. He pointed directly at me, "You and me tonight, the couch, and Netflix!"
I pointed right back at him, showing him that I was in, "See you in gym class!"
An hour later and I was standing next to Andy and Ricky. We were running the mile today, which means as soon as we are done, we can change out and go home seeing as gym was the last class.
"Do you have practice after school today?"
"Nope, I'm all yours. So you better run this mile fast," I scoffed. He was thirty seconds ahead of me last time, if that.
"Think you can beat me little sis?"
"I wouldn't call being five minutes older a big accomplishment. Your big head was taking too much space, so they had no choice but to take you out first."
"A big head comes with a big brain."
"Or it's just a head filled with air."
"At least I made it past model height."
"How does that matter?"
"You've always been secretly jealous that I'm taller, just admit it."
"You're unbelievable. I can't believe you brought up height. Your not even that much taller than me!"
"I'm tall enough to do this," he stated as he put his arm on my shoulder and rested.
"You are such a child."
"You're the child! You're basically pouting."
"I am not-"
"Tabet twins! Am I interrupting something?" Our teacher, Andy's coach, yelled over. We both shook our heads as he went back to explaining the stretches we were supposed to do. Ricky, Andy and I already know the stretches as we all played sports, but some of the others only did this a couple of times a year. "Alright start stretching, and when you're done meet me by the door to head to the track!"
"You two are unbelievable," Ricky muttered as we started stretching. The rest of our stretching was done in silence. Ricky finished stretching a minute before us and headed over to coach. Andy and I stood up at the same time and walked over. Once every person in the class joined us we walked out to the track. I grabbed Andy's arm just before we stepped out onto the track and put my fist out. He pounded his with mine, doing our secret handshake. We smiled at each other as we took our spot on the starting line. Andy played soccer and baseball, and I ran track during the winter and spring. We were both conditioned and we always made the mile into a friendly race. He always ended up winning by a couple of seconds, and I summed it up to his much longer legs, but I was faster.
Coach blew the whistle and we were off.
..............
Andy and I were at the finish line holding our hands to our head, trying to breathe. I sprinted the last quarter of the mile and Andy tried to keep up. Luckily, I had gloating rights for once because I beat him by just a few seconds.
"I can't believe you just beat me."
"Congratulate your sister, Tabet. She just beat your PR by two seconds," Coach came over to inform us. My eyes gleamed, I was ecstatic. I have never reached Andy's PR, no matter how much I tried. I was always several seconds behind his PR, and to know that not only did I beat my brother, I also beat his PR, was amazing. I looked over at Andy to see pride in his eyes, and I couldn't help it, I bounced up and down and squealed. Andy smiled and gave me a hug. We were both into running, but with Andy being taller, it was very hard to beat him, so I stopped caring as much if he won. But I couldn't be happier in this moment.
