It was just before lunch and I went to my locker to drop off my books when Madison appeared right beside me, "Are you getting excited?"
I shrugged my shoulders, but truth be told I was scared shitless. I have yet to figure out whether I was more scared about Andy possibly finding out, why Jason still wanted to go out with his rival's sister, or that I may actually enjoy myself tonight.
"I'll keep my phone on so that if you need to be picked up, just call or text me." I smiled and hugged her. Madison may have been crazy at times but she was the best friend a girl could ask for. "Now let's go before Shmandy sends out some guard dogs."
We entered the cafe and headed straight for our table that we shared with my brother, some of his teammates and their girlfriends.
"Hey, AJ!" Ricky called over to me. "Some of us are going to the movies tonight, you in?"
I stopped, not knowing what to say. Andy will know if I lie.
"Sorry, Ricky, but she's coming over my house tonight. I need to catch up on some school work I fell behind on. I might even make her sleep over."
I love Madison.
"How the hell are you already behind on schoolwork Mads?"
"I can't stop dreaming about you." Madison smiled sweetly.
My brother smirked and leaned closer to her and said "Well if that's the case ditch my sister and I'll ditch the movies and you and I can have a date with my bed."
I pushed Andy away from her just as Madison slapped him upside the head. "I was joking, perv."
"I wasn't," Andy replied back with a toothy grin.
"Ew. Please stop. So are you going to the movies tonight then?" I directed to my brother, hoping he'd say yes.
"Yeah, I'm heading out at six. Are you going to stay over Madison's?" I nodded in reply, not being able to hide my joy. He wouldn't know I went on a date, and I wouldn't have to make up a lie to tell him where I was when I got home. Madison was officially my life savior.
...............
Madison and I arrived at my house so that I could pack a bag and get ready for my date.
Andy was going to the movies straight from practice so I didn't have to worry about him showing up.
"What are you going to wear?" Madison asked me as we entered my room. My dad wasn't home and wouldn't be home until later, so I didn't have to worry about him either.
I headed into my closet and grabbed my maroon sweater which was high-low and black jeggings. I also grabbed my short black wedged boots. "I am very impressed. Not too casual, but not too dressy. I love it."
I looked at the clock to realize it was only three thirty. "Want to watch a movie?"
"You don't want to get ready for your first date with this guy?"
"I'm not going to spend the next three and a half hours getting ready."
"You should."
In the end, we compromised. We watched two episodes of Grey's Anatomy and then I showered. I didn't want to do anything special so I just blow dried my hair so I could leave it down. I got dressed and put on very light makeup.
As I was getting ready I asked her a question I haven't been able to voice out loud because of the possibility of people listening in. "Why do you think he still wants to go out with me, even when he knows who I am?"
