*Regina's POV* *flashback*
This is it. I can't believe I've let it go this far. Snow White and Prince Charming don't know each other. Their daughter is out there lost and alone. Wondering why here parents would ever give her up. Henry hates me. No one in this town knows who they really are. Most people hate me. Graham is mad at me because he doesn't "feel" anything. No one feels anything and yet they still hate me. I can't live like this anymore. I can't live anymore. "Henry.. I'm gonna go for a walk or something. Okay?" I yelled as tears ran down my cheeks. "Henry?" I yelled again. I walked up the stairs and checked his room. He wasn't in there. His bathroom. Not here. I checked every room in the house and he's not here. Oh great. The doorbell. Maybe it's him. I run to the door and fling it open. "Henry! I was worried sick about you." I said and hugged him tightly. "I found my real mom!" He screamed and ran inside. I looked up to see the most beautiful girl I've ever laid eyes on. "Uh... Hey..I'm Emma Swan... I was just making sure he got here safely. I'll be on my way." Did she say Emma? Emma Swan? The savior? Their daughter? "Regina Mills. Mayor." I said and held out my hand to shake hers. She took it and I felt sparks immediately. "Ms. Swan. Can I interest you in the best glass of apple cider you'll ever taste?" I said and looked at her. Hoping she would say yes. "Got anything stronger?" She said, making me chuckle. I got out 2 glasses and poured the cider in them. "So. Ms. Swan." I started but she cut me off. "Emma." She said and took a sip of her drink. "Excuse me?" I said and lifted an eyebrow. "My name is Emma." She said and set the glass down. "Right. Anyways. Are you planning on staying?" I said, sounding meaner than I intended. "No. Just returning the kid." She said and looked at me. "Well, then you better get going. Wouldn't want your family to worry about you." I said. "Oh, I uh.. I don't have a family. It's just me. I was a foster." Emma said, confirming my suspicion that she was in fact the daughter of Snow White. "I'm sorry to hear that." I said adding a hint of unintentional sarcasm. "Well, I'll be going. Maybe I'll come back sometime." Emma said and stood up. "Right. I'm sure Henry would want to see you." I said and rolled my eyes. This girl was gorgeous. I just... No. I'm straight. Right? "Okay. Well, I know when I'm not welcome." Emma said and turned out. "Ms. Swan, I'm sorry if I was rude. I have a headache." I said. Really? Did I just apologize? I don't apologize for being rude. Maybe I'm not straight... "Oh, I'm sorry. I hope you feel better." She said and placed a hand on my shoulder. Her touch made my knees go weak. Thankfully I grabbed onto the door. "You okay there, Regina?" She said and looked at me concerned. I nodded. "Why don't I help you to your room. You don't look so well." Emma said and put an arm around my waist. My stomach filled with butterflies. I don't have my heart, but I knew this was love. "Thank you Ms. Swan." I said as she helped me up the stairs. "Anytime." She said. We got to my room and I stopped us at the door. "I can handle it from here. Thank you." I said and smiled at her. She nodded. "Here's my number. If you ever want to visit Henry." I said and handed her a business card with my name and number on it. "Alright. I'll see you around sometime. Well, I probably won't. But, I might come visit." Emma stumbled over her words. Making me smile. "Have a good night Ms. Swan." I said as she walked down the stairs. "You too." She said and left my house. She was so breathtaking. She was perfect. How will I get in touch with her again? I thought as I drifted off to sleep. I woke up to a phone call. It was 5:30 in the morning. "Graham. Why are you calling me?" I said through the phone. "Sorry to disturb you Madame Mayor but, I was on my way to work this morning and there was a car that had crashed into the Storybrooke sign. I don't know the girl and she seems unconscious. Can you see if you can come identify her? I'm still at the town line." Graham said through his Scottish accent. "Right. I'll be right there." I said and hung up the phone. I got up and put on a pair of black dress pants, a flowy maroon button up and black heels. I put on my black peacoat and walked outside and began walking. I didn't feel like driving this early. My thoughts wandered to the blonde I had met last night. What if it's Emma? What if she's dead? Oh gosh. I got to the town line to see Graham standing by an old yellow bug. That's Emma's car. Oh gosh. "Is she okay?" I said and ran to the car. "She's out cold." Graham said. I opened the door. "Emma? Emma!" I said, trying to wake her up. There was a large cut on her head. "I'll drive her to the hospital. You drive her car to the sheriff station." I said to Graham who was handing me the keys to the sheriff cruiser. I scooped Emma out of the drivers seat and laid her down in the back seat of the cruiser. I hopped in the drivers seat and sped towards the hospital. I got there and carried Emma in. "Re...Regina?" She said and opened her eyes. "Emma. You're awake." I said and a wave of calm washed over me. "What happened?" She said. "you were in an accident. Are you okay?" I said and she nodded then grabbed her head in pain. "Dr. Whale. Emma needs an exam. She was in a wreck." I said. "Uh, this is Emma." I said, realizing he didn't know who Emma was. He nodded then put her on a stretcher. She grabbed my hand before they rolled her away. "Regina. I'm nervous. I don't like new people. Can you come with me? Or... You're probably too busy." Emma said. "I can stay with you."i said and smiled. She smiled. "Okay Regina. She's gonna go to room 224. She's gonna have some x-Rays and then she'll be in." He said. I nodded and walked to the elevator. I got to the second floor and waited by room 224. It was about 30 minutes when Emma was rolled in. Dr. Whale came and talked to me, after he rolled her in. "She has a minor concussion. A broken wrist, arm and a minor fracture in her knee. We put stitches in the cut on her face. We have her in a cast and a brace and she's on pain medications. She's not going to be doing anything on her own. She's not able to. So, you'll need to contact her family or friends." He said and looked at me. "Right. When can she go home." I said to the doctor. "Whenever. You can take her now." He said and I walked into the room. "Hey, ready to go?" I asked. She nodded and got up slowly. "I'll help you." I said and wrapped an arm around her waist. She nodded and we walked down to the parking lot. I helped her in the car and got in the drivers side. "Okay. We need to talk, so you can come back to my house. We just have to go get your car from the sheriff station." I said to Emma. "Okay. Thank you. A lot." Emma said and smiled at me. i nodded and pulled into the sheriffs parking spot. I got out and helped Emma out. We walked into the sheriff station. "Graham. I need Emma's keys." I said to the man, angrily. "Damn, Regina. I know I dumped you. But you don't have to be so uptight about it." He said. "I don't care that you 'dumped' me. I was going to break up with you. You just beat me to it. Give me her keys." I said and slammed my hand on his desk. He nodded his head and handed me her keys. Emma and I walked back to the car and got in. I drove Emma's car to my house and got out. "This is a death trap." I said as I helped Emma out of her car. She laughed and agreed. "But it gets me where I need to go." Emma said as we sat down on the couch. I told her what the doctor had said and she looked away awkwardly. "I can just go back to Boston. I can take care of myself." I said. "Nonsense. You'll stay here until you're better." I said. "Only if you insist." Emma said. "i do, dear." I said and Emma nodded. "But, our guest rooms are not up to my standards. So, you can sleep in my room. I'll sleep on the couch." I said and she looked at me. "No. I can sleep down here." She said. "I don't want to argue. I'm fine with sharing the room if you are." I said and smiled. She nodded her head. *end of flashback.* I remember those two days perfectly. If I hadn't shared a room with Emma, or anything, who knows what would've happened. I probably would've never seen her again if I hadn't invited her in for a drink. I thought about all of this while I held Emma in her sleep. She woke up and smiled at me. "What are you thinking about?" She said and kissed my cheek. "The day we met and the day after. I didn't start being a bitch to you until you took up the deputy position. and started dating Graham. And found your own place." I said and hugged Emma tight. She nodded and kissed me. "But I've forgiven you for all the bitchy behavior. I never took it to heart. I was too in love with you. Even then." Emma said and I kissed her passionately. "I love you Emma." I said. "I love you, my queen." Emma said and fell back asleep. I really do love how my life's turned out.
