I tried to find the song
You know the one we heard
On our way to the fair
Blasting out of a car radio
The one with MahaliaWe chased down the car
Trying to find the name of it
We never caught up
We never stopped wishing
That we would hear it againMuch like in life where
We get a taste of something
And become greedy
Always searching for the secret
Never finding the answer
Wanting more but
Not even knowing what it wasThe song never left my mind
Bits of it come back to me at night
Fleeting moments of satisfaction
I would try to search it up
If Google found a way to intepret
Hums; rising and falling noises
In between fragments of incorrect lyricsMuch like love
Only understood by those in it
Their own dialect
Like white noise to others
A soothing hum
In between fragments of broken promisesIf I ever find that song
I may never play it through
The bit that I have with me is enough
It may not even be a good song
High risk of dissapointment
But I wanted to know its secretsMuch like dreams
Wrapped up in their mystery
Enough to drive one wild if
Not what was promised
Enough to give up on
For fear of dissapointment
So we wake up
