March is a cold month. April isn't any better as rain is predicted to fall every day. Snow still decorated the grass surrounded by the track. "Flip, even yoga pants look lose on you!" Hannah pointed out when we met up in the morning.
I looked down at the little creases along my crotch and knees. They were a little loose, but I love yoga pants. "I guess." I responded, not exactly ecstatic at the obvious looseness of yoga pants.
Hannah was in jeans that didn't do the best job at hiding the fact that she had love handles spilling out and a little belly. I always thought her curvy body was cute. But she hates it.
"I'm so fat compared to you and Mi." She pouted. Miley and I awkwardly looked at one another not knowing what to say. We weren't exactly the harsh friend types. We both knew that Hannah needed to work out and eat better if she wanted to be thinner.
"But your chubbiness is adorable," I smile.
"Yeah," Miley agrees. "Who else are we going to hug when it's cold outside?" We both go in with our arms stretched out and hug Hannah's worries goodbye.
"You guys are the best." She says.
"What are friends for?" I ask. "Besides, who else are we going to cozy up to when we watch movies together?"
"Yaaas!" Miley agrees. Miley wasn't as skinny as me, but she was practically perfect. She was toned from track and she kept herself looking good with a perfect amount of makeup every morning and a cute outfit every day.
The bell rang and it was off to math. Hannah was the smarter one of us three, she was taking Pre-Calculus. The only class we all three had together was Computer Literacy. But I had American Literature with her. And she had Anatomy with Miley.
"Soooo," I began, "how's your prom date?"
"Jackson is so sweet. He and I stayed up all night texting and Snapchatting."
"Both at the same time?" She nodded.
"So, are you two dating?"
"Eh, I want to, but we hardly know each other. He confessed that he had his eye on me for a while since the start of the season."
"Jackson's a good guy." I complimented. "I hope it works out between the two of you."
"Me, too. He is a good guy. But again, I don't want to look clingy or pushy."
"Is it best for a guy to confess his feelings to you first?" I ask as I glance at the tall kid passing by me.
"That's what I say. Keeps the girl from looking desperate." Duly noted.
On Saturday, after seeing the new Insurgent movie, the three musketeers went out for ice cream.
We walked into the parlor across from the theater laughing and giggling about the movie when my eyes fell on Tristan's. We walked up to the bar and I smiled.
"I didn't know you worked here." I said. He bowed his head in greeting before he let me hear that deep voice of his.
"Yeah, once basketball was over, I thought I should do something. Can't always rely on scholarships."
"Right." Even though I was really banking on a track scholarship.
"What can I get you ladies?" Miley giggled.
"I'll have a single scoop of Rainbow Sherbet in a cup." Miley said.
Hannah looked at me in saying that it was my turn to order. I knew what she was doing. Miley ordered small, and if I order small, then Hannah will. But if I order big, then my friend will order what she wants.
