It was raining the next morning and I was really nervous to go back to school. No one knew about Josh but everyone knew about me getting admitted into the hospital.
My sisters began picking my clothes out for me, making sure I was extra warm throughout my day. Today I wore two pairs of fleece socks, hand warmers with mittens, leggings under my jeans, a long sleeve with a sweatshirt, a skinny jacket, then a rain coat.
As I sat in Tristan's car before school started, I sipped on hot chocolate that he had bought me.
"You like my wardrobe?" I grinned as I showed off all my layers.
"Yeah, you look cute today," I blushed and just sipped my hot chocolate. "But you're missing something." He reached into the back and placed a hat over my head. I pulled it off and got a better look at it. It was a simple navy blue beanie that looked a bit worn. I shoved it back over my braided head and giggled. Most girls get excited about wearing their boyfriend's sweatshirt, while I get over ecstatic about wearing his beanie.
"Even cuter," he commented. The bell soon rang and we walked hand in hand to class. When we entered Algebra II, everyone went silent and stared at me. Tristan wrapped an arm around me and led us over to our seats.
The teacher came in and class started. During our homework time, kids turned in their seats to get information out of me.
"Jazz, what happened?"
"Yeah, why did an ambulance carry you out?"
"Did you overdose?"
"Guys, leave her alone." Tristan glared. Thank you. I said with my eyes. After that, everyone left me alone. It was nice having Tristan to defend off gossipers. But in all honesty I knew he was one that looked like he could kill you but is actually a cinnamon roll.
After class he walked me to English and told me that if I needed anything to call or text him.
I entered class and the teacher called me over asking about what happened.
"I don't feel comfortable telling you." I admitted. She looked taken back. "But the reason I abruptly left your classroom was because I had to throw up." She just nodded and asked if I ever feel the need to throw up again I had to take someone with me. I sat down and Hannah came over.
"Hey, Jazz, are you feeling okay?" I grabbed my textbook and slammed it on the desk.
"Can't everybody just stop asking me that!?" I yelled. Everyone looked at me. I looked to my teacher and she just sighed and waved her hand for me to be quiet.
"Sorry," Hannah looked away.
"No, you're fine. I'm sorry. I just ... can't seem to go a second of the day without someone asking me if I'm okay. To tell you the truth, I'm not."
"Kids are saying you overdosed, is that true?"
"It's not. I don't take any medication or drugs."
"Then ... what happened?"
"I got hypothermia, okay? I sat outside for too long and got so cold I blacked out and woke up in the hospital. Now go tell everyone how much of a loser I am."
"Where is this attitude coming from? You never had it before Tristan,"
"What does Tristan have to do with any of this?"
"I'm just saying. And why were you outside?"
"That's none of your business."
"Fine." She got up to leave but turned around. "And here I was worried about you but all you care about is yourself." I glared at her and went back to my homework.
