We spend the day relaxing on the couch, alternating between some old action films and re-runs of Game of Thrones. Around lunchtime, he manages to whip us up some fairly decent BLTs, with no help from me as I nicked the bacon almost as soon as he put it on the plate, earning me a slap to the ass with his spatula. We return to the sofa, and I lie on top of Tobias as he strokes my arm lazily, sending shivers up my spine. He kisses my head as we listen to rain splash against the window, the tv murmuring in the background like white noise.
"You feeling tired?" He whispers after a while, my eyes closed as I rest my head on his chest. I hum softly and snuggle closer to him, and his arms squeeze me tighter.
"I blame you, you've made me too comfortable. You need to be careful, I could get used to being this spoiled." He snorts as he runs his hand over my hair.
"If you think this is me spoiling you, clearly I'm doing my job wrong." I laugh moving my mouth closer to his neck and kissing up to his ear. He shifts beneath me, his breath hitching for a second.
"No, I think you do your job very well," I mutter softly, biting gently on his ear. He groans softly, grabbing the back of my snack to force me to look at him as he connects his lips to mine. He sits us up so I'm straddling his waist, and I grind down on top of him just as his tongue slips into my mouth. I moan as he moves his kisses down my neck, sucking softly at the skin on my collarbone.
"Fuck, you're so sexy," he pants in my ear. I groan in approval as his hand moves up to cup my breast, tweaking my nipple softly through my-his- shirt. I'm about to reach for his own shirt when the sound of my phone makes us jump. I huff in frustration, taking a second to glance at the caller idea before freezing entirely. He senses my sudden change of pace and pulls back.
"Do you need to get that?" He asks, glancing at the screen. The name Andrew flashes in bold letters, and just with that name my throat already feels full of cotton. I slide off of him, grabbing it quickly as my finger lingers over the acceptance button.
"I'll be in my room, take as long as you need." He kisses the top of my head before slipping into his bedroom. I take a deep breath, slowly hitting accept and placing the phone up to my ear.
"Hi..."
"Beatrice! I'm really glad I got a hold of you. It's been a bit." I bite my lip, pacing back in forth in front of the window as I watch the rain fall.
"Yeah, it has. And it's just Tris, by the way." I hear him clear his throat, papers shuffling awkwardly on his desk.
"My mistake. So...how are you?" I hold back a scoff as I scuff my foot against a spot on the ground.
"Uh, ok I guess. Still working at the bar, looking for jobs at publishing houses."
"That's fantastic. Really proud of you kiddo." I cringe at this, my stomach doing the usual anxious bellyflops that typically come with these calls.
"So, I wanted to call to ask you something. Candice and I are going to be in town soon. I was wondering if you would like to have dinner? I know your schedule might be a bit busy, but we would really like to see you. She's missed you like crazy, we both have. Always asking after you too." I roll my eyes at the thought of his bitch of a girlfriend, and annoyance courses through me. Missing me my ass.
"Uh, I can try. Works been busy, so I'll have to see." My body is already filled with dread at the thought of seeing them.
"Alright. We'll be in town next Saturday, I can text you all of the details. Dinner on me of course." I bite back a retort as I sit on the couch. In the next room, I hear the shower start. Something clicks inside my head, and the question is out of my mouth before I can even contain it.
