December
Over the past two weeks, my mind has been swirling and yanking my train of thoughts in all different sorts of directions. After the whole fiasco the night at the bar, Eric was let off with a warning, and the next day was back in the bar, in a very bad mood with a very severe hangover. Apparently Drew got held overnight at the station, as he didn't have enough bail money, so after Eric was let out he had to go and withdraw over $1000 just to cover his bail, which gives me a feeling that their friendship may have reached its end.Tobias and I have gotten closer since the night that he saved me. Whether it is meeting for coffee, or him dropping by for lunch, or even just a drink after work. I don't think there has been a single day where I haven't seen him at some point. I can't tell you how much it puts a smile on my face to just see that chiseled, handsome face with that bright smile, and those amazing blue eyes that just make me melt into a warm puddle of-
"Tris? Tris! Have you heard anything I'm saying?" Christina scoffs as she takes an another sip of her wine. I'm brought back to my senses, realizing I'm back on the couch in my tiny apartment. She rolls her eyes, smirking slightly.
"Mind on lover boy again? Honestly, I'm surprised you've lasted this long without texting him," I shoot her a wry smile, taking large drink from my glass. The movie It's a Wonderful Life plays behind us, really setting the Christmas mood as a dusting of snow falls outside. We've turned on our space heater, so the room is nice and toasty. An empty bowl of Milano's sits on the coffee table, and my warm, thermal pajama pants are also a huge help.
"I'm sorry, what was that again?" She smiles and laughs.
"So anyway, Will finally drove me back home, and so when he parked his car, it just got really quiet, and then... we kissed!" She whispers excitedly, almost as if sharing a dirty secret. I reach out, squeezing her arm affectionately.
"That's amazing! I'm so happy for you guys. So, does that mean it's like, official" She smiles nervously. "I dunno. He taking me out for coffee to talk about it. I have no clue what I'm gonna wear!" I laugh, feeling a slight buzz from the wine. The doorbells rings, and she places her glass on the table.
"Pizza's here! About damn time!" I throw off the blankets, grabbing my wallet and head to the door. Clicking the lock open, I hold up the cash in my right hand, bracing myself against the cold to come. "Hi! How much do I-" a deep laugh interrupts me.
"I'm afraid I don't have the thing you're looking for." I look up, and a shivering Tobias is smiling down at me. I suddenly become very conscious of my appearance. Hair in a messy bun, my old flannel pajama pants, and a warm, off white shirt. I'm also acutely aware of the fact that I'm not wearing a bra, and I don't think the cold is playing much of a roll in my... current situation.
"Oh! Jesus, come in, you must be freezing!" He steps inside, his head covered by a navy hat. He wipes his boots on the mat quickly before removing them.
"I'm sorry to bug you guys. It started coming out hard down there and it felt safer to stop then to try and make my way home through this," he motions to the window, where I've now noticed the snow is coming down harder.
"It's totally fine! We were just actually waiting for-" I'm interrupted by the doorbell ringing yet again. "The pizza." I grab the cash, and open the door, one again getting hit with a blast of cold. A young kid, probably in his late teens, fights the wind holding our pizza box, his eyes widen when he sees me, and he shoved the box into my hand along with the bill. I hand him the cash, and as I'm signing the receipt I notice his eyes haven't left my chest. I hand it back to him, and he continues to gawk. I clear my throat uncomfortably, crossing my arms.
"Do you need anything else?" His eyes snap to mine.
"You are wicked hot. Can I get your number?" My jaw drops open, and my response gets stuck in my throat. I feel the door open behind me, and Tobias steps out.
"You ok out here?" He asks. The kid quickly sizes him up, and after noticing that Tobias has a good five inches on him, takes off running back to his car stumbling and slipping on the ice on the side walk. I shake my head, handing the pizza to him.
"That was such a weird kid." I grab three plates and head to the dinning room. Christina emerges from her room, stopping in surprise to see Tobias.
"Four! I wasnt expecting you!" He quickly explains the situation with the weather, and she happily invites him to eat with us. After we fill up our plates, Christina turns on the news, where the weather man states that the storm is supposed to go though the night. Tobias sighs, and turns to me.
"I don't suppose I could crash here on the couch for tonight? I don't think I'll be able to make it home." I glance at Christina, and she gives me an energetic nod.
"Of course! We'd love to have you. I even think I have some old sweat pants that my brother left you can wear to bed." He sends me a shy smile
"Thank you, you're really saving my ass here." I feel my cheeks turn red. Christina stand and stretches, giving an over dramatic stretch and yawns.
"Well, I'm going to bed. Enjoy the night you two." As she opens the door to my room, she turns to face us.
"Oh, and by the way, I'm gonna have my noise machine on pretty loud. So I won't really be able to hear you guys in case you..need something." She sends me a wink, and I feel myself turn even redder. Even Tobias looks a little pink. Her door closes, and we soon here her machine go on.
"Well...do you wanna watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S?"
For the next hour, we end up having a Netflix marathon. I nearly bust a gut laughing after Tobias starts doing his Janice impression every time she entered the scene. Around 10:00 pm, we're both beginning to get tired. I go to my room and retrieve the sweatpants from the back of my closet, praying that they will fit. I tell Tobias he can use the guest bathroom, and while he changes I lock up the house and grab a few blankets and pillows.
As I'm setting up the "bed" the bathroom door clicks open, and Tobias steps out. My mouth grows extremely dry and I feel myself once again burn bright red from head to toe. He's wearing the pajama pants, slung down to rest of his hips, so they can reach his ankles. He's shirtless, and I take my sweet time to scan his sculpted, muscular body, with abs so hard I could grate cheese on them. He raises his hand to run it through his hair, and I see his biceps flex. I swear to God I could come undone right here in this very spot, and I find myself clenching my legs together.
"So! Uh...blankets, pillow, you can help yourself to anything in the fridge, just don't touch Christina's cheesecake, or she will murder you." He laughs, and stands closer to me. I can feel the heat radiating off his body, and his lids seem to grow a bit heavy as he scans me up and down.
My breath catches in my throat as he leans down and presses a small kiss to my cheek. My entire body ignites in sparks of pleasure, and I feel myself lean into him. He wraps an arm around my waist and shoots me a small smile.
"Goodnight, Tris." I'm the first to pull away, and I feel out of breath as I make my way to my room.
"Goodnight, Tobias." I quietly shut the door and promptly sink to the floor, my hand cupping the cheek where his lips were. I smile to myself. It'd been an extremely strange night, and I don't know if it's just the wine talking, but my entire body definitely feels warm inside and out.
I try to fall asleep, but by midnight I've given up. I decide to go out and check to see if he's asleep, maybe I can sneak to the kitchen to make a cup of tea. Or maybe even just to have an excuse to his gorgeous face again. Screw it.
I pull back the covers, immediately shivering from the cold air that hits my body. I try to tiptoe to the door, twisting the knob and pulling it open quietly.
And Tobias is standing right outside my door.
