But suddenly he's pulled away, and I feel myself crash into the liquor cabinet from the sudden force of being yanked backwards. A bottle falls in front of me, and I land on the floor, glass digging into my arm. I notice Drew is being held with his head against the bar, Four pushing roughly down to keep him in place. He looks like he's seething. Eric has backed far away, watching the whole scene unfold. The older gentleman who I met earlier flashes Eric his badge.
"Assuming you're the owner. While public rowdiness is one thing, sexual assault in not. We're gonna take you and your friend for a little ride. Now get outside before I drag you there myself." Eric is pushed by one of the men, and he all but runs to the squad car. Drew is also led out by Four, and I'm alone, covering my face with my hands. Someone crouches in front of me, and I lift my eyes to find Uriah's warm smile looking back at me.
"Hey. It's ok, he's outside. He's gone." He looks at my arm and and frowns.
"Looks like you got pretty cut up, come one we need to clean the out." He reaches for me and I automatically flinch away. I don't want to be touched. Or seen. I'm beyond ashamed of what has just happened. He stands up, glass crunching under his foot. Somebody else steps around the broken glass and comes behind the bar.
"It's ok, I got her." A deep voice says. They kneel down, and Fours soothing, handsome face fills my vision.
"Tris." I avoid his gaze. He sighs, and slowly reaches out to touch my knee. I try not to flinch, but he can see my struggle. He leans down and puts his mouth next to my ear.
"I'm gonna pull you up, ok? I can take you to my car and clean that up." I slowly nod, a shiver running down my body from his warm breath. He take my hands in his large, rough ones and gently pulls me to my feet. My legs seem a bit unsteady, so when I'm finally standing I lean on him. He gently guides me away from the broken glass and out the door, where I spot his familiar black car sitting in the parking lot. He unlocks the trunk, and I wait as he retrieved a small medical kit. Frowning, he realizes we have nowhere to do it out here, leaving us no choice but to head back into the vacant bar. Tori has been taken outside for questioning, so it's oddly quiet.
He unpacks the kit, laying out some gauzes and wipes, as well as some sort of spray, and an antibacterial cream. He opens one the antibacterial sprays and shakes it, wincing just looking at it.
"I'm sorry, but this is gonna hurt like a bitch." I brace myself, and he gives me his hand to hold. He spray it over my arm, and an entire burning sensation spreads through it. I grasp his hand, and he lets me squeeze it until I think I almost broke a bone. When it's over, he quickly gets to work putting the gauze over it. Without looking up, he sighs and asks,
"Has this happened before? I mean, with the-""Once or twice." I whisper. He shakes his head, his face becoming hard. I can practically see the steam coming out of his ears. I let my hair fall forward and cover my face, which I know is red with shame.
"Eric... his friends tend to get somewhat rowdy. And... handsy," My face burns, and I feel him tighten his grip on my hand, which he hasn't let go of since we began.
"You shouldn't be treated like that. What he did... I wanted to-" I reach up, laying my hand on the side of his head and forcing him to look at me.
"I'm ok. Just a little shaken up." He shakes his head, and he slowly brings his hand up to cover mine, eyes closed.
"I'm sorry Tris." I shake my head.
"Don't be. He's gone, you stopped him." I smile, and he shoots me half a smile back. My heart pounds in my chest, and I slowly lean in and kiss his cheek. He seems surprised, and I pull back with a small smile.
"Thank you, Tobias." He gives me a huge smile back, his cheeks flushed.
"Anytime." He busies himself with cleaning up his stuff, his cheeks a bit red, then glances at his watch."Hey, it's getting late. Wanna ride? I was about to head out."
I grin"Love one." He helps me grab my coat and scarf, and as we exit the dimly lit bar, he slips his hand into mine.
What the hell is happening?
