Early February
"Do you mind zipping me up?" I ask, stepping out of the bathroom. Tobias glances up from where he is bent over tying his shoes. His hands pause, and I hear him take in a sharp breath. He stands and crosses from his position on the bed, hands finding my waist as he looks me over.
"You look absolutely stunning." He whispers, pressing a kiss to my forehead. I blush and turn around, feeling his fingers slide down my back, fingering the zipper before pulling it up. He kisses my shoulder, pushing my hair out of the way before kissing my neck slowly, making me legs weak. It's been 3 months since we became an item, and we've yet to make the jump into fully consummating our relationship. It's not for a lack of want, but both of our schedules keep us so busy we often find ourselves either too tired or without enough time. It's definitely starting to get to me, every little thing we're able to squeeze in just leaves me wanting more.
I groan as he pulls away, squeezing my hips lightly before stepping back.
"You know, we could just stay here and fool around. I'd rather spend my night off in the bed with you than with my father and his bitchy girlfriend." He laughs, sitting to finish tying his shoe.
"As much as I enjoy that idea, I would like to make a good impression. Call me old fashioned but having your father respect me would make me a lot more comfortable if we continue to go to events like this." My heart flutters a little bit with the thought that he is already thinking ahead to more events like this. I push him back slightly in the bed, stepping between his thighs to kiss him gently. He hums happily in my mouth, hands sliding down to grab my ass over my dress. When I pull back, his eyes are glowing.
"What was that for?" He whispers. I smile, wiping some lipgloss off his lips with my thumb.
"Just for you being you." He smiles, leaning in to kiss me again. When we pull back, I glance at the clock and groan.
"We need to go, if we want to make it to the restaurant on time." He sighs, standing up to help me slide into my coat.
By the time we reach the restaurant, some fancy hotspot in the middle of the city, the sky is already growing dark. Tobias valets the car, helping me out before passing off the keys. When we step into the darkened foyer, we are immediately led to a table in the private room. Caleb and his wife Cara are already there, as well as my father and Candace.
Caleb is the first out of his seat, hugging me tightly before shaking Tobias's hand.
"I'm so happy you guys could come, it's been way too long. How are you?" I smile, giving Cara a quick hug.
"I'm doing well. How about you?" Caleb smiles, reaching over to rub Cara's back.
"We're good. Baby's doing well, we just went for our third ultrasound." Caleb and Cara announced they were pregnant on Christmas, and by the way they're both glowing you can tell they're over the moon .
My father stands and clears his throat, shuffling around the table.
"Beatrice! It's good to see you." He reaches out and hugs me stiffly, and I tense up. When he pulls back, he smiles softly at me, eyes lingering on my face. "You look so much like your mother." There's an awkward silence, and thankfully the moment saved when Tobias steps up, hand outstretched.
" It's a pleasure to meet you sir, I'm Tobias." My father releases me, turning to Tobias and firmly grasps his hand, looking him over critically.
"So your the man that finally caught my Beatrice's heart." I can tell they're sizing each other up by now, and I start to see Tobias lose some of his patience.
