THANKS TO LIZZIE and her impulsive thinking and the fact that they had used magic, everyone at the football game had to do community service. Natalie climbed on the bus, hoping that Josie would talk to her, but instead, she ignored Natalie completely while Lizzie glared at her.

Natalie made her way to the back of the bus and sat down. It was only a moment later that Hope came and sat down beside her with a loud sigh. She looks at Hope with furrowed eyebrows, "Wait, what are you doing here?"

"I volunteered," Hope tells her with a straight face.

Natalie smiles as she tilts her head, "Was that a joke?"

"I can be funny," Hope says, and Natalie laughs.

"That's what not-funny people say."

"You're kind of mean," Hope tells her.

"It's called teasing," Natalie informs her, "If you had friends, you'd be familiar with the concept."

"I'm familiar with teasing," Hope retorts, "Anyway, you shouldn't be mocking me about friends when it seems like you're still in Saltzman exile."

Natalie sighs, "Josie won't even look at me."

"She's looking at you right now," Hope says, and Natalie quickly leans around her, glancing a few seats ahead. She meets Josie's brown eyes before the other girl quickly looks away.

"She's clearly misses me," Natalie says, "I don't understand why she's being difficult."

"Maybe it's Lizzie. She knows how to hold a grudge. She's been holding one against me for the last ten years."

Natalie chuckles, "I know. Imagine being in Hawaii, beautiful beaches, amazing sunsets, and all Lizzie can talk about is the fact that Hope Mikaelson likes to sacrifice puppies to demons and burn down orphanages."

Hope laughs, "Wow."

Natalie smiles as she thinks back to those days, "I was terrified of you. Lizzie would tell me all these stories about you, and I believed her because I didn't know any better."

"I heard a lot about you too," Hope admits, "The first few weeks of school were always the worst because all Josie and Lizzie would talk about was their trip with their bestie, Natalie. I honestly didn't think you were real."

"What was your first impression of me?" Natalie asks, "When you found out I was real."

"Clumsy," Hope answers, "But kind. You apologized like three times for bumping into me."

"I felt bad," Natalie tells her, "Plus I was kind of scared you might burn me alive or something. Not because it's you, but because you never know with a school full of witches and angry werewolves and starving vampires."
