ELLE
The two weeks went by faster than I thought it will. it was the same routine as always. Wake up, go watch Ava, and come back home. Ever since Vince and I have become friends, I haven't seen much of him. He's never here most of the time which consists me staying overnight most days. We never really talked as well, he occasionally nods at me as a greeting which always made me sigh in relief. I would always think he found another reason to dislike me.
It was currently eleven pm and Ava was already asleep. I just laid there on the couch waiting for Vince to get home and decided to turn on the T. V to kill time.
I noticed I heard small whimpers coming from the direction of the T.V and stairs so I chose to ignore at first, but the whimpers increasingly got louder and louder.
Shit.
I quickly ran up the stairs to Ava's room, only to find her sobbing on the floor.
"Ava, honey." I honestly started to Panick. I've honestly never had a problem with a child so I'm not sure what I did wrong for her to make her cry. I carried her in my arms and she held me tightly.
"Make him go away," she whimpers in between sobs.
"Ava, who? Did you have a nightmare?" I asked while I gently bounced her in my arms whilst walking downstairs. "Y-yes," she whispers. I sit her on the kitchen counter before walking towards the freezer and grabbing the tub of cookie dough ice cream.
Maybe that will help.
"Ava, tell me whats wrong." She looks up at me, her ocean blue eyes glossy whislt her lips trembled.
That's when I realized I've never wanted this girl to be upset about anything. Ava deserved the world, not the pain.
"Dad," she forces out as a flood of tears gushed down her pink cheeks. "I saw him again Ellie. I hate him," she mumbles out while choking on her sobs. I decided to hold her until she cooled down.
"It's okay Ava. your mom and Vince will protect you from the evil in this world. I will also be there for you whenever you need me, sweethart. Okay?"
"Promise?" She therefor holds out her pinky for me to connect mine with hers. "Ipromise sweetie. Now lets eat some ice cream and watch a movie." Whatever situation Ava went through with her dad, she didn't deserve. That man can burn in hell for all I care.
Thinking about her situation made me think of my own father. I'm glad my mom had the courgae to leave him and followed her dreams. We didn't need his negativity in our lives.
We ended up playing just dance instead of watching the movie. I'm not sure how Ava had all of that energy but I was getting tired by the minute. "Ava honey, how are you not tired?" I say as I collapsed on the couch. "I am, but this is so much fun Ellie. Again!" She yells but I was too tired to move.
"Nah, I...can't..." and before I knew it, I was consumed by darkness.

"Up...no go back to sleep Ava."
I heard footsteps walking away from me as I repostioned myself in the couch. I was way too tired to wake up. A few minutes those same footsteps came back.
"What the fuck-"
"Shhh," he calms me down as he carries me somewhere, still too tired to open my eyes and take in my surroundings. I'm suddenly placed on a soft and comfy matress and felt myself being tucked in. I felt at peace.
"Goodnight princess."
