carry's pov
i stare out the car window as a tear falls down my cheek, and continues to fall until it drips off my chin.
moving is hard. even though i needed to, because i desperately needed to get away from my mother, it's still hard.
having to find new friends, a new place. i have to adapt to a new city, a new state.
i used to live in a very small town in indiana, and it's always been my dream to move to L.A, so that's where i'm going.
"here we are, honey." my uber driver says politely.
i force a smile as i hope out of the car, with my suitcase in hand. i hear him drive off before i even start to make a move.
it's really true, i really just moved to L.A.
i somehow find just enough joy to smile.
"excuse me, are you new here too?" i hear a males voice ask from behind me.
i turn and find a y'all, handsome man, about the same age as me with a nervous look on his face.
"yes," i croak out.
i'm not really good at the whole 'hello, lets be friends' thing.
he nods, "yeah, me too. i just moved here from new jersey, are you from L.A?"
i shake my head, "no, i just moved here from indiana."
"oh, so we're in the same boat here." he chuckles anxiously.
i nod, "yep,"
we stand there for a moment, just staring at each other. which is kind of awkward.
"uhm," he clears his throat. "well, what's your name?" he asks.
"carry. and you?"
"i'm nick." he smiles.
"oh okay. well, hi nick." i smile.
he grins, "hi carry."
we both head into the apartment building, going our separate ways at the second floor.
"well, i guess i'll see you around. you know, since we live in the same apartment complex, and because i really want to get to know you." he smiles shyly.
i blush, "yeah, i guess you will."

i'm awoken my the sound of my phone ringing. i groan as i grab it.
"it's fucking three o'clock in the morning, who's calling?" i shout angrily.
i see it's a unknown number. i pick it up.
"hello?" i ask hoarsely.
"hey carry. sorry, did i wake you?" i hear nicks sleepy voice say.
i shake my head, "yes, you woke me. why're you calling so early in the morning for?"
"sorry, i really am. but i can't sleep, and i don't have anything to do." he says anxiously.
"how the hell did you even get my number?" i ask, not even acknowledging the statement he just said.
"i have my ways, okay?" he says, his voice all of a sudden sounding embarrassed.
"okay, just come to my room. you can sleep on my couch and watch tv." i groan.
"okay, thank you." he says.
"also, if you're hungry, i've got pizza rolls." i chuckle
he chuckles too, "thanks. and by the way, what's your room number?"
"oh, it's 346." i yawn before ending the call.
that bastard woke me up for nothing.
i roll back over and get comfortable. and just as soon as i'm about to fall asleep again, nick is knocking at my door.
"come in, asshole." i moan.
i hear the door open slowly, and nicks footsteps come closer.
"hi carry." he says shyly.
"no," i say before turning my back to him.
i hear him chuckle lightly as he makes his way to my couch.
"hey carry." he says softly.
"yes nick?" i reply.
"thank you, it means a lot. and your house smells really good." he says.
i roll my eyes.
"oh, and your couch is comfortable." he adds with a sign of relief.
i chuckle, "go to bed, nick."
"okay. goodnight carry."
"yep. you, too nick."
i roll over and close my eyes, drifting off to sleep. but just as i'm completely out, i hear nick whisper something. he must've thought i was asleep.
"i wish i could sleep with you, up in that bed. and play with your hair, or caress your warm body." he says.
"oh, what am i thinking. i need to be quiet, she might wake up and beat myself ass."
i smile goofily before really drifting off into darkness.
