Chapter Twenty-Two: Summer Training Camp Begins

"Everyone on the bus! Single file! Come on Class 1-A! Act as hero class students should!" Iida announced, chopping fervently in the direction of his chattering classmates.

"I'm so excited!" Ochaco shrieked next to you.

You cringed away from her, smiling weakly. She gripped your arm, shaking you. As you were waiting to get onto the bus, class 1-B was also lining up. You quickly took notice of the rude blond boy you'd met with Bakugo. He was already spouting off nonsense.

"I heard there were students from class 1-A that have to take extra classes because they failed the final exams! How sad and pathetic? Big bad class 1-A has some stragglers?"

He began laughing directly at your class, and it had your quirk angrily turning inside you. What was that guy's problem?

Just like before, a redhead came up behind him, clocking him in the head and apologizing for his behavior before dragging him on the bus. Your quirk subsided, and you sighed. You supposed not everyone was going to be completely nice at UA, but you were glad that that kid's friend was handling him. He seemed so rude.

"Don't worry about that clown. He's always spouting out bullshit about our class," Bakugo said under his breath. Had he been watching you?

You turned your gaze back on him, but he quickly looked away. You regretted not being able to talk to him about his confession or the kiss. Things had been awkward between the two of you ever since. Considering he hadn't questioned you about it though, your original assumption was most likely correct: he only did or said anything because of the heat of the moment, his emotions were all scrambled because of the near-death situation.

Ochaco tugged you onto the bus, shoving snacks into your hands in excitement after sitting down. Normally, you'd be thrilled to have some treats, but you didn't feel hungry at all. Ever since going to the police station, you'd been nervous more than usual. The person threatening you had been standing in front of you, and you hadn't even known it. You supposed that most people would feel uneasy after that.

"What's with the pouty face?" Ochaco asked with a mouthful of a combination of snacks.

"N-nothing," you stammered. "I'm..." you trailed off, resting your head back on the seat.

She gulped down the food. "Come on, Think. Aren't you excited? This will be like your first time on a field trip in Japan. That's got to be exciting, right?"

"Yeah," you said, fidgeting with your hands nervously.

"Plus, Mr. Aizawa already told you that no one was notified of the camp location besides us. That's got to make you feel better. It's going to be okay."

"I suppose." You smiled up at her, thinking about the possibility of a fun class trip.

"There's that smile," she said, gently pushing you on the shoulder.

You chuckled despite yourself. "It's going to be fun."

"Yeah!" she cheered, holding a fist in the air.

An hour went by and the bus finally came to a stop. All of class 1-A were told to exit the bus. You stretched out your stiff muscles. Your eyes immediately fell on a black car that was already perched on the cliff-side overlook. You raised an eyebrow, looking around at the intense stretch of forest before you. It was certainly a strange place to stop, but it was at least nice to look at.
