The car ride to the town was silent. Taehyung didn't say much and Jeongguk just couldn't. It was awkward, to say the least. But they had to get breakfast somehow. And since the hummus dropped and Taehyung allergic is to milk they had to get to the breakfast bar.
Once they arrived, they hurried out of the car. Both being glad to get away from the awkward atmosphere. Jeongguk walked inside and Taehyung followed suit. When the bell ringed, announcing a new customer, the waitress looked up and smiled when she saw Jeongguk enter.
"Hello," she smiled, approaching the pair.
'We would like to have breakfast' he signed.
The girl nodded and glanced at the red-haired behind Jeongguk.
'Who is he' she signed back so that Taehyung wouldn't be able to understand her.
'Nobody special'
Jeongguk giggled and the girl showed them a table. There was a smirk plastered on her face when she saw Jeongguk motioning for Taehyung to come over.
'Tell me all about him later' she signed, still smirking and Jeongguk shook his head disapprovingly.
Taehyung pulled the chair back and took a seat, immediately grabbing the menu to avoid a conversation. Not like they could have one anyways.
Jeongguk smiled and signed 'the usual' to the girl, who nodded and wrote it down.
"And you, sir?" she asked, looking at Taehyung.
The red-haired's eyes peeked up from under the menu and looked at her.
"Just a minute" he sighed, his eyes quickly darting over the multiple choices. Taehyung hadn't eaten a proper breakfast in months, and all the prizes and choices overwhelmed him a bit. He didn't even had the money to pay for the water here. His breath began to quicken. Would Jeongguk pay? What if his stomach couldn't stand the food and he threw up. Oh, that would be so embarrassing. His mind was running a hundred thoughts at once. Panic started to flood his senses but Taehyung took a deep breath before it could overwhelm him.
"The vegan pancakes please" Taehyung mumbled to the waitress and she nodded. He mostly ate vegan stuff since they never had milk in them so it shouldn't be a problem. And so what if his stomach couldn't handle the food and he threw up, it's not like he couldn't run away and pretend the mute ravenette never existed.
Yes, sounded like a good plan. He had nothing to lose.
His fingers started to strum on the table in impatience. He wasn't a fan of small talk, not that they could have it right now. But still.
Jeongguk looked totally at ease here, he was looking around, his eyes wandering over all the posters and plants. Surely, he must've been here a thousand times, why was he still looking around.
Then he signed something to the girl and she smiled and nodded, pointing at the plant above them.
Jeongguk let out a weird sounding giggle and admired the plant again.
Taehyung didn't understand what was going on so he just waited. After a while he decided to do the same as Jeongguk and just let his eyes wander around the breakfast bar. There were a few people sitting at the tables but the place wasn't too crowded. It was nice, looked very cozy. It only added to the image Taehyung had in his head of Jeongguk.
A few minutes later their orders arrived. The pancakes for Taehyung and the yoghurt with granola for Jeongguk. Without a word they both dived into their food and began devouring it. Taehyung moaned softly at the taste, causing Jeongguk to giggle. A small smile painted Taehyung's lips at the sound.
It had been a really moving morning so far.
