~Dorian~
Time skip...
My mother and I walked to the site, her holding flowers in her hand. We got to the area and it was surrounded by people we didn't recognize. Not surprising seeing as I only talked to Ex for a few minutes.
A tall guy with brown hair and blue eyes walked up to me, his cheeks stained with tears. "Who are you?" He asked coldly but you could hear the sadness in his voice.
"I'm Dorian Pilkington. I met Ex a while ago, she saved me from a gang. This is my mother, Laoise. We heard about what happened and we came as soon as we could."
The guy gave me a once over before allowing me to walk up to her. She lay in the open casket, unmoving, looking more pale than normal. I asked the boy if it was ok to talk to her and he stiffly nodded his head. I walked up to the casket and looked down at her.
"I never got to thank you." I couldn't help it, tears fell down my face. "I never got to make it up to you. You saved me from ruining my life. You gave my mother hope. You gave me hope. You gave us a fighting chance."
My mother joined me and gently placed the flowers in Ex's hands. I never got a good look at her but now that I do, she's beautiful.
A little boy with raven black hair and cyan eyes came up to the casket and looked at Ex. "I love you mommy and I hope I'll see you again." My eyes widened in shock. "Dean told me all about you. I couldn't be happier to know that you fought to save everyone you loved. I'm proud of you mommy."
The little boy began to cry and I was about to go comfort him when a guy with curly brown hair and green eyes picked the boy up and said soothing words in his ear. The guy turned to me.
"Dorian, right? I'm Dean." I thought back to my conversation with her. Dean being a name she said a lot. "How do you know her?" He looked down at her, his eyes hardened.
"She saved me from staying in a gang." Dean smiled sadly and looked up at me.
"That sounds like her."
He led me to where everyone was and introduced me to Ex's other friends. Sophia, Rhydian, and Nora. Later on he introduced me to Ex's family, including the little boy that was clinging onto him.
I was in tears the entire time and so was everyone else. I had learned that none of her family had seen her in 14 years and that her son first saw her in a hospital bed before she passed. The little boy would grow up without a mother, a great one like her nonetheless.
When it was time to lower the casket into the earth, even not knowing her for long, I found it hard to believe that I wouldn't be able to talk to her again. I would never get to see her again.
All you could hear were the tears of everyone. One elderly lady fell to her knees and begged for her granddaughter back. I shut my eyes tightly and let the tears out. My mother held onto my arm as she silently cried while looking at the area where Ex's friends and family helped bury her. The younger ones threw flowers into the open ground as they hiccupped, losing breath as they cried.
Once the ground was nearly covered up again I turned to look at the guy named Dean. He had a murderous look on his face and it scared me. The other guy, Rhydian, stood next to him with a lost look on his face. The girl Sophia had the same look as Dean, only her expression was followed by action. She walked up to the nearly covered up ground and pulled out a white gun. The gun that Ex always held close to her. The gun that she used to save me.
Sophia looked at the gun before pointing it up to the sky but not pulling the trigger. She slowly brought it down and in a whisper she said.
"I know that it means a lot to you. One day you said that if you ever had kids that you would pass it on to them after telling them your story. You would be a legend. And you are."
She turned around and slowly walked to Ex's son and gently placed it on his forehead, then his left shoulder, slowly moving it to his right shoulder, and finally his heart.
"As long as we keep this safe your mom will always be with us. She wants you to keep her safe." My mouth was slightly open in both sadness and every other emotion.
Zoran took the gun from Sophia and looked up at her. "With this mommy will always be with me but you too." Sophia closed her eyes as a few tears fell and when she opened then she looked guilty.
I looked at the gun in the boy's hand and I couldn't help but admire it. The gun was simply beautiful. The base of the gun was white but on the side, in gold, a set of angel wings were engraved.
My attention went back to all of her friends. Rhydian, Dean, Sophia, Nora, they all had guilty looks. But why?
Slowly, everyone started to leave, still in fresh tears. My mother and I stayed behind and so did her friends. I looked at her gravestone, the words seemed to hide everything but at the same time give you a clue on who she was.
Loved Protector
As I looked down the four walked up to me. Nora placed a hand on my shoulder as they spoke. I studied them for a few seconds and they all looked ready to fight but at the same time they looked ready to give up.
All at once they say:
"Watch over them."
And they walked away before I could say anything.
