20. Trust me

'' Selena... Her name is Selena.'' He declared as I swiped his hand across the beauty in his hands.

'' Jade, can you keep a secret? '' Nicholas asked me as I could not just snap my gaze away from the weapon.

'' Do you have one in pink? '' I asked looking up at him in total randomness.

He chuckled and held the gun out for me to take as I looked at him in shock. Does he trust me with that weapon in my hands? I mean I can do some serious damage! I am so clumsy with my hairbrush and phone. The numerous times that I have dropped it, broke the screen guard so many times has me trembling. What if I drop this one and it starts firing bullets in the air?

'' No thanks. You can keep Selena. '' I told him and raise my hands in surrender.

'' And yes I can keep a secret,'' I answered.

'' Can you keep a bi--'' I cut him off abruptly.

'' Depends if you pay me to keep it... Then I will. '' I said but his gaze told me he was being serious.

'' Okay, okay. Jeez, don't need to get all grumpy. I can keep it.'' I told him with sharpness

'' I won't lie to you about my real identity; Who I am and why it defines me. I want you to keep an open mind about it and not freak out like your grannies panties are set on fire. can you do that much for me? '' He asked me as I thought hard for a while and I looked at him in all seriousness.

'' I have no problem if you're gay! '' I said in an abrupt mess.

'' I mean, it is totally cool you know! You should not be ashamed about it! Have a conf---''

'' I am a Mafia Leader.'' He cut me off in total shock as I gaped at him in utter hysteria

'' I lead the Italian Mafia named 'La maledizione del Salvatore' I have three brothers and one sister each one of them trained differently.'' He continued 

'' So know that you're involved with me your security is my top priority--'' I cut him off when I heard what he said.

'' Excuse me! what do you mean by Involved? I am anything but Involved with you! Just because I had dinner with you doesn't mean that I am involved with you! I an---''.

'' You think just by going to dinner with me your not involved? You received flowers from me, you were seen in the dark alley near the strip club with me and most importantly you were seen dancing with me closely... in front of the most famous underworld galas of all time. Salvatore Enterprise invites all the good the bad and the dirty, Unfortunately, you, my dear emerald have been stretched in all of this. Do you know who you were dancing with? '' He asked as I perked up at him with fear in my body.

'' You were dancing with a killer. I am the vilest and merciless creature that you have ever come across. I can rip your skin off in minutes and you won't even realize how I did it, your screams will be a piece of melodious music to my ears that will help me sleep at night peacefully. '' He finished and I was shaking in my place.

As I looked around, It was a dark and lonely place no one was here to save me and no one was there to help me if I had to run away from this beast.

'' N-Nicholas that isn't fair... I-I didn't ask for this.'' I told him sincerely as I could feel despair embrace my senses.

He stepped forward and this time my senses heightened and i took a step back away from him. I was more than scared, I was perplex and helpless. I was stuck in such a place that even if I wanted to run I could get shot by a bullet from his gun.

Once he realized that he had inbuilt fear inside me his eyes softened, as if he didn't mean to intentionally tell me how he'd like to sleep at night and how he enjoyed ripping peoples skin off. Nicholas signed in defeat as he rubbed his temples.

'' Jade, I know you didn't ask for this. I know that I pulled you into all of this, I know your scared and its a lot to process. I shouldn't have brought you in on so much.'' He said as he took few steps towards me and this time i didn't step back.

'' But I need you to know that you'll always be safe with me. I need you to know that I will always be there for you whenever you need me. I will protect you with all I have.'' He finished as he cupped one side of my face. His warmth reaching out to me.

'' This world that I have pulled you into isn't the kindest at all. But I promise you that you will never feel less privileged or hurt when you're with me. I will try my best to always keep you happy.'' He completed and pressed his forehead against mine.

I closed my eyes and slowly processed all the information that he had recently filled me in with. I was grateful that he didn't lie about his identity or worse, let me know from someone else. But a part of me was scared, this wasn't a storybook in which I'd know my future by reading the last page of the book. This was real life and in real life real things happen which you can't prevent from happening.

'' Jade you provide me a sense of tranquillity that no one else has ever given me. It's so stupid how only knowing you for four weeks has changed my routine and troubled my mind. I can't seem to get your Image out of my head even if I wanted to.'' He said as I closed my eye's and listened to his disclosure.

'' I'm not good at expressing myself and I know you don't feel for me the way that I do. I won't blame you because of how I previously behaved with you and I won't ask much from you but... I need you to only trust me in order to protect you, I need you to trust me. '' He ended cupping both my cheeks in his hands as I still kept my eyes closed our foreheads still pressed against each other.

'' So... What do we do now? '' I asked him as I looked up to find his eyes closed and head pressed against my head.

He gradually opened his eyes as those deep brown pupils meet mine a distinct secureness passed through me, I always went with my gut feeling ever since I was left alone. This time I will do the same if Nicholas can protect me then he better prove it to me.

'' I don't know '' he replied after some time.

'' take me home Nicholas.'' I declared as he stepped back away from me and held his head down as he scratched the back of his neck.

'' sure''. he replied with boldness.
