"Umm, okay. What do you mean by, you saw us in the future?" I ask after a couple of seconds. "What exactly did you see?"
"Well, umm... I saw us..." Keefe replied, his cheeks turning a bright shade of red.
I gently turn Keefe's face back to face me and say, "Keefe, that doesn't answer my question."
--Keefe's POV--
I don't know what I was thinking. Why did I think would happen if I told her? What would she say if I told her that I saw us as a happily married couple? That was the clearest part of the vision. But what confuses me is the part where Sophie and I- Nope! Not going to think about that! It was blurry so that probably means it won't happen. Not that I wouldn't mind if it happened.
"Keefe? Why won't you tell me?" Sophie asked. "Whatever it is, you can't stop it from happening."
"I want it to happen," I reply, intwining my fingers with Sophie's.
"Then why won't you tell me?" She said laying her head on my shoulder.
"Because I think you haven't made up your mind about one of the things."
"What made you think that?" She asked.
"Well, one of the things was really clear and the other was pretty blurry," I told her.
"Okay, then why don't you tell me about the clear one? Obviously we both have made our mind up about it."
"What makes you think that we've made our minds up about it?" I ask, confused.
"Well, it just makes sense. The clearer it is, the more likely it is to happen. The more blurry it is, the more undecided it is."
"That would make sense."
"So, will you tell me?" Sophie asked
"I saw-"
But before I could finish my sentence there was a loud bang coming from the house. Sophie jumped up and I could feel the fear coming off of her. I grab her hand and pull off her gloves sending calming emotions into her mind.
"It's okay. Maybe Grady dropped something he was getting for one of the animals," I said trying to calm her down.
"Grady never needs something from the house. Especially when it comes to the animals," She replies.
Why can't this girl just look on the bright side for once?
"I'll go check and see what is going on. You wait here."
Then with that I head towards the house.
~~~~~
Right as I head inside I wish that I could just walk back outside and leave. The whole house is a mess. Papers are everywhere, the chairs are knocked over, and most importantly, there is no sign of Edaline or Grady. I search every room for some kind of sign of where they went.
That's when I see her, a small girl about the age of ten, standing at the top of the stairs. She stands there with a look of joy in her eyes.
"Who are you?" I ask.
"Audrey, my name is Audrey," She replies as see makes her way down the stairs. "I may look young but trust me, I'm the same age as you."
A strange feeling washes over me as she looks me in the eye. I shudder as I reply.
"How do you know how old I am?" I ask.
"I know everything about you, Keefe Sencen. I know that you are 15, your mother is part of the Neverseen, your father doesn't care about you, and," She pauses as she makes her way to the window. "You are dating Ms. Foster. Who at this moment is busy fighting her ex."
I make my way to the window at the mention of Fitz. I look through the window, and sure enough, there's Sophie and Fitz fighting each other. Sophie has tears streaming down her face as she faces him with a throwing star in her hand. Fitz stands there with Alvar, Gethen and my mom.
"How did they get out?" I ask to no one in particular.
"Bryan and I released them. It was easy really. The Forkle twin thought that we were you and Ms. Foster. Bryan is really good with his ability. He can change the appearance of him and anyone who is touching him. He's really special." Audrey reaches out to touch my arm but I back up.
"Wait, your with the Neverseen?"
How did I not see this? Audrey just happened to be in the house right after Grady and Edaline disappeared. I'm such an idiot! I make my way to the door but something stops me from doing so. I turn to see Audrey with her arm outstretched.
"I don't think so," She says. "We need Sophie. She's part of our plan."
Something in me clicks. Like a switch that was flipped. I looked right at Audrey and mental said the words,
Stop
Audrey's eyes went wide as I made my way to the door.
"How did you stop me from using my ability?" She asked as I opened the door.
Honestly I had no idea how I did it. But I didn't stop I ran out to Sophie's side and stood next to her as Gethen, Fitz, Alvar, and my mom look at me with surprised looks.
"How did you get past Audrey?" My mom asks.
"I don't know. One minute she was keeping me from moving out the door and the next her ability wasn't working."
"That doesn't matter right now," Sophie said as she aimed her throwing star at the Neverseen group. "We need to put them down for a while."
Sophie trows the blade which had just turned into four blades. Four blades that weren't sharp, blades with slimy ends. The appearance of four blades threw the Neverseen off guard. Each blade hit its target and almost instantly all four of them dropped to the ground.
"Well, now we need to get them to a place where they can't escape. Let's go tell Grady that we have visitors." She makes her way to the house before I stop her.
"Sophie, Grady and Edaline aren't at the house."
She stops, "What do you mean?"
"They've been kidnapped by the new Neverseen recruits."
