Don't Get Hurt

I shiver and reach out to run my hand across the bed, eyes still closed. The warmth I was seeking had disappeared. I'm alone.

"Xandra?" I shoot up, kicking the covers off me as if she might be lost underneath them. My chest starts to ache and this overwhelming feeling of panic hits. "Xandra!"

"I'm in here, baby." The bathroom door opens up, just a tiny bit, and I push my way in. "What are you- Vita you're shaking."

Xandra had been getting ready to shower when I barged in on her. Her dirty blond hair is tied up in a bun on top of her head, her underwear on the floor, leaving her in just her oversized night shirt.

"Well its cold in here." I mumble, attempting to convince here I didn't just have a heart attack because I thought she'd left me.

"Come on," she removes my shirt and ties my hair up the same way as hers. "Maybe a shower will help."

I feel the urge too cover myself but I remind myself there's no need. I'm growing very fond of our shared showers. Saves water and helps me gain back what little confidence I use to have in my body. Xandra turns on the shower, setting it to the right temperature, and smiles when she sees I've removed my shorts. I take her shirt off the way she did for me and step under the water, pulling her with me.

"Hey, thank you for telling me." She kisses my head, which I have resting on her shoulder. "I know it was hard to do." I shrug and look down at our feet, feeling anxious. Do I tell her I've been stealing pills from her boyfriend? That he's been taking money from me for rent without her knowing and that's how I justify my own crime?

"T-there's more." I stutter, my heart racing faster.

She holds me tighter and it feels so good to have her naked body pressed against mine again. I have this internal battle happening where I want to have sex again but something in me is just afraid. I didn't realize how intimate of an act sex is till the sacredness and intimacy was stripped away with Josh.

"You don't have to." She kisses my head and puts her hand on me cheek so I'll look at her. My anxiety melts away as her hand slides down my shoulder and across my perky breasts. "I love you sweet girl."

Words fail me and I just stand there, mouth agape, eyebrows furrowed. "Huh?" I squeak.

Grinning she connects her lips with mine, kissing me gently. "I love you so much. You don't even know." She mumbles between kisses.

"I love you, Xandra." I smiles as she pulls away caresses my hip. "What about Larry?"

She just rolls her eyes and grabs the body wash. "Don't waist one thought on him, baby."

We happily continue our shower and don't mention him again. Once we're done, I go to my room for some clean clothes. I grab a pair of shorts and a random tank top, too lazy to actually put an outfit together. 'Nasty Woman' the black shirt reads. It's one of my favorites. After I throw them on I go downstairs to find Xandra and Larry sitting quietly at the table. He must have just gotten home.

"Morning Vita." He says without turning to look at me.

"Morning." I grab myself a bowl of cereal and take my seat.

"Nasty woman." He chuckles, words slurring. He's drunk, it's 10 am, and I suddenly regret wearing the shirt.

"Yeah do you know what it means?" Xandra scoffs, flipping threw her magazine and taking a bite of her toast.

"The bullshit feminist whatever meaning of it? No I don't care enough to know." He sips his coffee. Something else is not right. I look to Xandra for help but she's reading away, paying her boyfriend no attention. "Vita the way you look at my girlfriend is a little unsettling to me."

"I don't look at her any way, Larry." I avert my eyes from the beautiful bond to my cereal and stir it. Suddenly I've lost my appetite.

"Well you must have considering I found you in my bed with her this morning."

Oh my god, my heart drops. What time did he get home? What all does he know? What did he see? What did he hear? My face fades whiter than a sheet and I look towards the garage door.

"Oh I'm not mad Vita." His voice is venomous. "In fact I thought about joining you two. Thought it might be fun."

"You're a pig." Xandra spits, no longer consumed by her magazine.

"What's wrong babe? We can't share her? I'd love to play with her sweet little-"

Before he can finish the sentence Xandra's chair flys back behind her and her hand swiftly collides with Larry's cheek. "Get the hell out!" She screams, pushing him.

Completely caught off guard, Larry falls back onto the floor, the chair falling on top of him. "I'm gonna fucking kill you." He threatens.

Eyes raging with fire, Xandra stomps upstairs, and run after her as fast as I can. 'Don't leave me with him!' I almost shout after her. "Xandra, what are you doing?" My voice shakes.

"And I'm gonna kill her too!" He shouts after us, kicking the chair off him.

She pulls me in her bedroom, locking the door behind us. She shoves as much of Larry's clothes that she can into the nearest suitcase and tosses it out the open window. "Help me." I do as told, grabbing his clothes and throwing them outside with the rest. "Clear his shit out and stay up here." She barks, reaching into her bedside table.

It shines causing the inside of the drawer to shimmer. A gun.

"Xandra, please don't go out there." I beg as Larry's feet clonk up the stairs.

"Lock the door behind me and don't leave this room."

"Please don't! Just stay in here with me. We'll call the police."

Without giving my words a thought, Xandra pushes me off her arm and slams then door behind her.

Don't get hurt. Don't get hurt. Please don't get hurt.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi friends. I end up taking a break from updating and writing all together,, for a while. One of my family members is really sick and doesn't have much time left and I have no idea what things are gonna look like within the next week. I'm basically preparing myself for if I completely spiral. Like getting a therapist and everything because I'm just terrified right now. I will get back to everything as soon as possible, but I just have no idea right now.
