~6~ Run Thomas

Akyla POV

I sat there with Chuck since I haven't been to sleep yet. As I went to the bathroom I seen Mihno, Rayna, Malaya, and Thomas going to the maze. I don't think that they should go into the maze since things are changing.  If people usually get stung in the night but it happened in the middle of the day we don't know what else could be changing. But when I went to talk to Alby about it yesterday he told me that they would still be going in the maze today. I shook off my thoughts as I was walking towards them to say bye to Thomas. Frypan ran up to me and and we walked over to the maze as they was waiting for the doors to open.  "Hey Akyla"  Hey Fry!  "What you walking this way for?"  Im just saying bye to Thomas!  He nudged my shoulder a little while laughing.  "Ooohhh"  Shut up!  As we made it towards them and Frypan handed all of them their lunches and I walked over to Thomas. We didn't talk but we just hugged. I kissed him on the cheek then the walls opened. He gave me a smile before running in the maze along with the other three. I walked back with Frypan and we seen Newt. Everyone got to their jobs and started working. As me and Newt was supposed to be cutting up some bark I felt like questioning Newt about the situation.  Hey Newt?  "Huh?"  Why are they going back in the maze?  "What do you mean?"  Don't you think they should like.. I don't know maybe take a break  "For what?"  You know since things have been changing around here.  "Listen Alby knows what's he's doing alright? Now are you gonna help me or not?"  I ignored his question. But what if the maze closes at a different time and they get stuck in there! And Rayna told me no one has ever survived a night in the maze.  He sighed then continued to cut the bark.  "Listen Alby knows more than any of us. Every month that box comes up and brings a new person and that first person had to work hard all by themselves to build houses make a daily routinue, trying to survive, and just being scared and confused. That first person was Alby. Alby spent a whole month in this place by himself. And every month when someon came up that box it got easier and easier. So now Alby learned that the most import thing is that we all have each other! Because we're all in this together. So trust me He knows what he's doing!"  I nodded my head  then sat up and helped him cut the bark.

Once I was done helping Newt cut the bark I went to go take a nap.

I woke up to loud talking. I sat up then walked out of my bamboo room. I looked around and seen everyone standing by the maze. As I was about to walk over there I stopped once I seen Newt sitting down. I walked over to him.  Newt?  He didn't move or say anything. I sat down next to him. Newt are you alright? What's going on?  "They haven't came back yet"  Huh?  "Rayna and the others, they're still in the maze."  Shouldn't they be back by now the walls are going to shut any minute now. I looked at Newt to see him with bloodshot eyes.  C'mon Newt let's just stand by the walls I'm sure they'll be here.  "No".  Huh?  "I'm going to sit right here till Rayna gets here!"  Newt!  "I'm serious Akyla!"  I stood up then walked offf towards the maze. I hope Thomas, Rayna, Malaya, and Mihno makes it back. As I made it to the walls I seen Mihno running out with Malaya on his back. Everyone cheered but kept asking where was Thomas and Rayna. Mihno handed Malaya to Gally as they showered each other in kisses. They took her to the homestead so Jeff can help her injury. I kept looking to see if Rayna and Thomas would show up. The walls started to close. I felt a tear drop from eye and heard Newt running this way yelling No. I turned back towards the maze and seen Thomas Running with Rayna on his back. She was passed out. Everyone started to cheer. "C'mon Thomas  "Runnn"  "Runnn Thomas  "You can do it Thomas!"  I wiped the tears that was coming and started to also cheer. I looked over and seen Gally with a sad face then he looked at me. "They're not gonna make it". Newt ran pass me yelling Rayna's name but Mihno grabbed him. He yelled and punched but Frypan helped Mihno control him. I looked at Thomas and I don't know what can over me but I ran into the maze. Jeff reaches out to me trying to stop me but it was to late. As I made it through the walls had closed. I ran to Thomas and hugged him but he didn't hug back. I pulled away and seen that his eyes were red.  Thomas?  "Why would you do that Akyla! Why would you run in here! Know I don't just have to protect Rayna but I now have to protect you you too!"  I put my head down. Is she stung?  "No she just hit her head hard."  I sat down next to Rayna and started to play with her hair. Thomas sat up and grabbed his backpack. What's are you going?  "We have to keep moving". We can't just leave her here!  "I'm not leaving her here!"  He looked up at the vines then smirked. I playfully rolled my eyes.

As we was pulling Rayna all the way up with the vines until she was high up on the walls so nothing can get her and we made sure that the vines was tight around her.

Malaya POV

I was sitting down watching Gally, Frypan, Jeff, and Alby trying to calm Newt down. He was throwing things and crying. Gally grabbed him and tackled him to the ground. Newt was struggling to get out of his grip with tears still streaming down his face. I started crying seeing his pain and hoping Rayna, Thomas and Akyla was okay. I walked to Chuck seeing him sitting down crying. Thomas is Chucks best friend he looks up to Thomas A LOT I felt so bad for Chuck. It's okay Chuck!  "NO ITS NOT NO ONE HAS EVER, EVER MADE IT OUT ALIVE!!"  I looked at him waiting for his breakdown and for him to just fall into my arms like he usually does. He fell into my arms crying as I held him close.

Once I got Chuck to fall asleep I walked out his room. As I was headed to me and Gally's room I bumped into Mihno.  Oh hey Mihno!  "Hey Malaya"  Thanks for helping me out of the maze today!  "Oh it was no problem"  Yeah I guess but I appreciate it!  " what you still doing up?"  I just got done putting Chuck to sleep  "I feel bad for him, him and Thomas was so close!"  I feel bad for you too! Thomas is your best friend!  He turned his head the other way.  "Yeah but they're gonna make it!"  Yeah!  We both sighed then laughed. Once we stopped laughing it got awkward and before I knew it I felt Minho's lips against mine. I pulled away looking shocked. "I-I-I" He gave up on his sentence and walked past me.
