Scarlett's POV

I have been having the same dreams since I arrived here,the dreams have been scary and terrible,it is as if I am relieving my past,but the dream I had while I slept was much more scarier,I see Samantha eyes staring at me lifeless.before she died she kept on whispering Mason's name,I also hear Grace crying but I couldn't find her which explains the reason why I was in Grace's room. I was so scared when I woke up that I immediately ran to Grace's room when I woke up to check if she was still in her room and I breath out a sigh of relief when I find her there. Even when I was no longer with him,he still managed to haunt me in my dreams.I was so worried about Samantha,she helped me to leave and I was scared,I knew what Mason was capable of and I didn't want him to find out that she helped me so I decided that I will borrow Robert phone at the ice cream shop so I could call Samantha.

The next day,I wake up to find Grace staring at me but when she sees that I have woken up she pretends to sleep"Is my princess awake"she does not respond so I tickle her."Am awake,am awake,mama stop"she says giggling."Stand up,we have to hurry if we don't want to be late to the ice cream shop today."she stands up from the bed and run to the bathroom.

The ice cream shop was very busy,I think it was some kid's birthday today so they booked the shop.

Grace was playing with the children and I was glad to see that she was interacting with people her age,I was so happy for her and I was worried because she probably wouldn't see them anymore only if they come to get ice cream from the shop and they won't stay for long.

"Scarlett"startled I back up against the counter "Are you okay,I av been calling your name.?"he says concerned."I am okay Robert,I am just stressed"he does not look like he believes me but he doesn't ask any questions.' If you say so. if you need my help with anything,you can come to me."

"Ehmm. Robert can I borrow your phone? I want to make a phone call"he grabs his phone from his pocket and hand it over to me."You can go to the closet,I will tell Mary to stay here for you."Mary was the cleaner in the ice cream shop."

"No,I will finish my work over here then I will make the phone call"he pats my hands"Nonsense,go and make your make phone call,Mary would be happy to stand in for you."I nod,"Now that it is settled go to the closet,I will go and get Mary."

The closet was neater than I expected,I dial Samantha's number she picks on the first ring,"hello."the fact that I haven't heard her voice since I left render me speechless"Hello if this is a prank call,just know that I don't find prank calls funny"

"Samantha it's me Scarlett "she remind silent for a period of time before she starts   asking me questions."Scar,oh my God is that really you?I have really missed you,there is no one to help me dress up for my date,how are you?how is my baby Grace?are you comfortable where you are,this place is so boring without you,is this your number?have you met your parents?"she stops when she is out of breath,"We are fine Sam,I miss you also.this is not my number I am calling you with my boss's phone,you will be the first person I call when I get a new phone.i have not seen my parents Sam and I don't want to see them,they hate me now,I left them Sam."

"They don't hate you Sam,at least do it for Grace she should at least have the chance of meeting her grandparents and you won't have to work so hard anymore.you should find them."

"I am not going to look for them Sam,just drop it."

"Okay Scar."

"How is Mason?"she scoffs"I can't believe you are still concerned about that asshole."I laugh,"I am not concerned about him,I just want to know if Grace and I are still safe to stay here."

"Yeah he is still here,he is drinking his life away,he is so miserable,enough about him,have you dated any handsome guy there,is he nice,I bet he is nice"She squeals.

"You are crazy Samantha,I haven't dated any handsome guy and I am not dating anybody again,it's just me and Grace now."

"You can't be serious Scar."

"Where are you working Scar?"

"An ice cream shop Sam,I have to get back to work Sam I will call you when i get my own phone."

"You can't do that to me,you just called,I still have many things to talk about with you"she argues.

"I will call you when I get my own phone Sam,then we can talk about anything you want."

"But"I disconnect the call before she could  argue with me any further. I go back to the counter.

"Thanks Mary"she smiles up at me."you are welcome Scarlett."

  Grace is talking about how much fun she had with the children,I was so happy for her,I have never seen her so happy in such a long time and she had this sparkle in her eyes when she talked about her friends from the birthday party. Grace was more of a loner when we were still with Mason and I was so glad that she finally made new friends even if they were not permanent.

"Grace you will have many friends when you start going to school,and you will love you."

"Really mama"I nod."Yes baby"she smiles,"For being a good girl today you get two chocolates"she snatch the chocolate from my hand."Don't get it on your clothes  Grace."

"Okay Mama."

Robert walks up to me while I'm cleaning the kitchen."You know that's Mary job Scar,you should go home you have been working for so long."

"She helped me Robert so I offered to help her clean the kitchen while she cleans the table"I grab his phone from my pocket and hand it over to him."am sorry Robert,I was busy that's why I couldn't return it back"

"It's okay Scar,now take Grace home,she must be tired.i have to get home to my wife."he says grinning."if I may ask Robert who is taking care of your wife while you are here?"

"She has a nurse with her,the nurse will stay with her till I return home"he lowers himself to Grace's level and whispers something in her ear that makes her giggle.

"Bye Scarlett."

"Bye Robert"I wave and leave the shop.
