Eugene's POV
I couldn't stop thinking about that specific night. The things she have done and said made me realize that she was pertaining it to be the last.
After that day, she stopped texting me. Didn't even bother to reply to my messages in social media. She only sent the videos and photos from the trip but that's it. She wasn't as active as she was before in social media.
It's been 4 years, done with internship, residency and fellowship and we still don't have any proper conversation. Whenever I see her or even try to talk her, either she avoids me or acts entirely professional.
Knowing this really bothers me, makes me feel that I am the one who's at fault here and fucked things up.
My family and I even attended her mom's burial, but she didn't even bother to entertain who came. She was really unstable that's why she went home right after the burial leaving Kane and Thomas in charge of the people.
I know she has been through a lot, and that urges me to be there for her all throughout, but I was the one who was pushed away.
"Congratulations!" I woke up from my thoughts as the nursing station greeted me with a banner. I looked down and saw how the faces of my colleagues are all here. Even Cadie.
Congratulations, Doctors!
That was written in the banner that made me sigh in relief. After so many years, finally.
I was busy talking to the nurses and my colleagues when I heard noises behind me.
I saw her in her beautiful dress and heels with of course her doctor gown. It looks so good in her.
"Congratulations, Doctora Rom!" They greeted her and lifted the banner again.
Her eyes sparkled and her smile was wide, "Thank you so much, guys! I actually brought cake to celebrate!" She lifted the cake box and they all cheered.
She laughed with them that was really music to my ears.
I at least need to talk to her, right? It is now or never or else I wouldn't get the chance to talk to her ever again.
I cleared my throat that gathered her attention, she immediately looked away and smiled to the nurses, "Can I talk to you about important matters, Doctora Rom?" Napatigil siya at nanlaki ang mata niya.
"U-uhm. Okay." That's the only thing she said before following me.
I went inside my office that my parents specially made for me. I sat down in my chair and she sat in the guest chair.
"Am I getting fired?" Bungad kaagad niya sa'kin kaya napatigil ako.
Kumunot ang noo ko at humalakhak, "No."
She leaned on the chair and sighed, "Oh, okay. So what's the important matter to be discussed?"
I sighed and bit my lip. Why am I so nervous?
"What's the problem?" I said. Really? That's all I can get? What's the problem? Such a coward bitch.
"Problem? About what? I should've gotten my records to know what's the problem." She crossed her arms. What the heck, she is so professional. Where's my Cadie in there?
"What the heck, Cadie?" Nagulat siya sa asal ko.
"It's been 4 years and you won't expect me to say that? I have given you so much space already! I want to know the problem why you kept on avoiding me!" She tried to hold her laughter but she didn't successfully hold it and giggled.
