Chapter 14

"So, you know..." I trail off as I walk with Koda

"What are you hiding?" he asks looking over at me with his eyebrow raised

"You can't tell anyone," I tell my friend and he nods, "Promise," I demand

"Okay, I promise," he tells me

I look down, "You know how my scent is...different?" I ask him

"Yeah, so?" he shrugs

"Well, that's because I'm different," I tell him

He bursts into laughter, bending over whilst holding his stomach, before looking over at me and standing up straight, "Oh, you're serious," he says

I shake my head, "Forget it," I wave a hand in dismissal

"No, tell me," he says poking my shoulder repeatedly

I turn to him as we stop walking and stare at his face, specifically his brown eyes, "I'm the youngest fox spirit," I say softly

His eyes widen as realization jumps at him, "That's why you and Old Major are so close, because you're just like him. Is that why you never shift?" he asks

"Well, yeah. I look like a small fox, and my scent is different. I could easily get caught," I tell him

"So do you have your power?" he asks

"That's the thing. I don't have my power, Damien doesn't know, and the full moon is in 2 weeks and Jasmine doesn't want me to tell him until he marks me," I rant to my friend

Koda easily grabs my hand softly, pulling me to him before wrapping his arms around me. My nose twitches and I softly push him away sniffing the air.

"Do you smell that?" I ask him

"Smell what?" he asks sniffing for himself

"I smell rogue," I tell him, "Only 1 of them," I add

"Are you sure?" he asks

"My senses are stronger than yours, I'm 100% sure. Let's go see if Old Major smells it as well," I tell Koda. Koda nods before we speed off to the elder's house.

"Old Major!" I call out

"In the living room, dear!" Old Missy called for me 

I quickly go to him and see his nose twitching as well, "You smell the rogue too?" I ask him softly

"I knew I wasn't crazy," he says, "Have you warned Alpha?"

"I can't, he still doesn't know," I tell him

"Alright, I understand. I'll mindlink him now," At that, Old Major's eyes glaze over telling me he's in a mind link as I think and Koda wraps an arm over my shoulder

Less than a minute later, Tyler and 3 other warriors came into the Elder's house, "You know the deal, Luna," Tyler says

"Way to over protective," I mumble pulling Koda behind him, "Bye, Old Major," I wave turning to look at him

"See you, Summer," he waves back

I smile before we leave. We start walking back to the house but I stop as I smell the rogue nearby, too far for the wolves to smell, but close enough for me to smell.

"It's nearby," I say

"How do you know?" Tyler asks me

"Just trust me," I say 

The hair on my neck stands up and I duck and watch as wolf fly over me. He attacked me. 

"Luna, stay back," One of the guards told me

I wanted to protest, but I basically just blew my cover already, so I moved behind Koda, pretending to clutch his shirt in fear. Koda and one of the guards usher me home where Damien came out, wrapping his arms around me.

Tyler and the other guard soon come back with the wolf chained up, "Take him," Tyler says to the two guards who nod stifly and leave with the rogue who showed me his yellow teeth as he smiled at me.

"How did you know he was nearby?" Tyler asks me

I slightly freeze, "It was a hunch. The hairs on my neck stood up and it was like I felt his presence," I half lie

Tyler hesitantly nods and eyes me for a second before dropping it and dismissing himself.

"Are you okay?" Damien asks, inspecting my face as it rests between his hands

"I'm perfectly fine. It didn't even touch me," I reassure him putting my hands over his which rested on my cheeks and sent sparks through my body

"Promise?" Damien says

"Yes, I promise," I let him know with a small nod to accompany my small smile

"Koda, could you stay with her, while I go to question the rogue?" Damien asks and my surprise obviously shows on my face, since Damien chuckled and kissed my head, "He knows better," he tells me softly

"Good you finally realized," I tell him making him chuckle again

"I'll see you both later," Damien says before leaving

Koda and I go upstairs to my room sitting by the window as he asked me a bunch of questions about being a fox and how strong I was and other stuff before night soon rolled in and Damien also strolled into my room.

Koda left giving me a hug goodbye before I changed and Damien carried me to his room as I struggled to keep my eyes open. He places me on his bed gentily before pressing a lingering kiss to my forehead and leaving to the bathroom as I drifted off to a peaceful slumber.
