"shit." ricky whispered to himself as nini walked to the door to see who it was. she peeped at the through the door hole and opened it to see a woman in about her early 30s. she was dressed nicely, a pencil skirt matched with a beige blouse and some flats, holding a clipboard, notebook and pen. "hi, how can i help you?"

"are you nina salazar roberts?" the woman asked and nini nods. "yes, what do you need?"

"good evening. i'm mia, your social worker. i'm here to-" nini cuts her off and slams the door. "oh sorry. please hold!"

nini starts running towards ricky, "hey ricky! the social worker is here!"

"what why? this late?!" ricky exclaims.

"remember mr baker said that the social worker can do surprise visits. i guess she made one today!" nini replies as she fixes her hair. "now go, look presentable and hide that fucking wine!"

ricky his the glasses in the sink and put the unfinished bottle of wine in the fridge. nini walked back to the main door, ricky following her. "hi mia. sorry about that, but you can come in."

mia furrowed her eyebrows and came inside. she started to look around the kitchen, dining room and living room. "so uh where's the baby?"

"oh she's already asleep upstairs." ricky said nervously. mia nods as she writes something in her clipboard. "is it ok if we sit and talk for a while?"

the two nodded as they led mia to the dining area, sitting across them. nini asked her if she would like a drink but she refused, saying that this will only be quick. she puts back her clipboard inside her tote bag, leaving her notebook and pen on the table. "ok so, richard and nina? right?"

"oh uhm i prefer to be called ricky and she prefers to be called nini." ricky responds and mia nods along. "oh alright."

mia starts asking questions about how they were doing and how they are adjusting to their new life as being co parents to gracie. it went well until mia asked a question that made them even more nervous. "so are you two together?"

"no!" ricky and nini both replied with a loud voice.

"ok good." mia replies as she jots some notes on her notebook.

ricky interrupts and asks a question, "sorry i just wanna ask, why is that a good thing?"

nini's eyes started to widen and she looks at ricky. mia puts down her pen and sighs, "if you two hookup or something then it doesn't work out, how about gracie? what will happen to her? that's why i highly suggest that you two just stay as co parents and that's it."

the two both nod and they see mia pack her things and stands up from her chair. "that's it for today. you're doing a great job so far. just saying, i'll be doing more surprise visits so please be ready for that."

both ricky and nini lead her out the door, "we'll see you soon. good night."

nini closes the door and sees ricky looked all tensed up. she approaches him and pats his back, "hey, are you ok? you look a bit tensed."

"yeah yeah i'm fine. don't worry." ricky replies but nini comes in closer and rubs the back of his neck, "are you s-sure about that?"

ricky's breath started to hitch and he rolls his eyes playfully, "god, i'm doing everything i can not to kiss you right now."

"i mean, you can kiss me if you want to. i won't be mad." nini lets out a smile as she continues massage his scalp, making him let out a little groan. 

ricky smiles again and wraps his arms around her waist as they share their first passionate kiss.
