"Where are we going?" I asked Josh as he dragged me around the streets of Paris. He ignores my questions, as we wind through the crowds. We turn the corner and we face a quiet street, on either side of the street are houses that are painted with the most various colours of pastel. I grin, as I walk with Josh closer to the houses.
"May I present you Rue Crémieux" grinned Josh as he puts his hands up and spins.
a/n: here is where you are :)
"You never fail to surprise me" I smiled as he spins me around in the middle of the small pavement. Suddenly we see an old man come out of the blue house, a small on his face he waves to us. Josh waves back, equally with a bright smile.
"Oh salut!" he said.
"Salut comment allez-vous?" Josh replied. My jaw dropped, not knowing that Josh knows how to speak french. He snickers at my expression, and walks up to the man and shakes hands with him. They continue talking in French, I walk past them to inspect the houses. I smile to myself as I stroll down to the end of the street and turn around when I reach the end. I see Josh gesturing me to come over, I jog to him.
"So this kind mister, wanted us to come over for some lunch" he said.
"Josh, he's a stranger and plus we shouldn't bother old people" I reply.
"Don't worry, he's my grandma's friend" he said.
"Wait what seriously?" I asked him.
"Yeah, I came here to show you this place and also to visit him in behalf of my grans" he continued as we stepped into the house. I nodded and followed after him. As soon as we enter, the warm smell of baked goods enter my nose. Josh leads me to the small living room, in the middle is a wooden dining table. Plated on the table is a bowl of fresh salad, a wine bottle at the edge of the table and some wine glasses. An assortment of breads and cheeses, and a meat dish with vegetables in the middle. I feel my mouth salivating, so I take a seat in one of the chairs.
"Your friend?" asked the old man, looking at Josh. Josh nodded as he took a seat next to me, the man takes a seat across from Josh.
"How is you grandmother?" he asked Josh, in a french accent.
"Alright, she misses Paris a lot" Josh replied.
"Your grandma lived here?" I asked Josh with curioutsity.
"Yes she did, she lived with my grandpa in the green house. But they moved back to (where your living now) so they could bring up my mother" he said to me. I nodded, picking up a slice of warm bread and using the knife to spread some butter. I feel my lips form into a small grin, as I observe Josh speaking in a mixture of English and French. His face painted with a bright expression, his hand ontop of mine.
"Bien on devrait y aller" Josh said, as he whipped his mouth with a white napkin.
"Allons! restez pour un café!" answered the man, coming out of the kitchen.
"Nous devrions vraiment y aller" smiled Josh.
"Sir, we have to get back" I said kindly, realising the man is asking us to stay a little longer.
"Ok ok then madam" he joked. I smirked at his sentence, as he lead us out of his humble home.
"Take care okay and say hello to your grand-mère for me?" the man said, as he patted Josh's shoulder.
"Oui, au revoir!" Josh grinned, as he took my hand and walked down and took a turn.
"That man was nice" I said as we walked.
"Mr Charpentier, a good man. Helped my grandparents a lot when they were here" he said to me. I pull out my phone and check the time, the top of the screen reads 1:30pm
"We have time for some extra fun" smirked Josh. I laughed at his face, as he started running. Making me jog after him. We wind through the streets of Paris, Josh hand clasped with mine as we walk.
"Where are we going?" I asked him.
"To the wall of love of in Montmarte" he answered.
"Where's that?" I asked him again.
"Somewhere" he chuckled as we kept walking. I gaze at the buildings as we walk past them, the rustle and bustle of people spread across the street as some shout into their phones in angry tones. A few minutes go by, when finally we reach the destination.
"We are here" sighed Josh.
a/n: this is the wall of love, ignore the ladies at the front :)
"What is it?" I asked with confusion.
"The wall has over 250 languages on it, all saying "I love you". And the wall is also made out of lava" answered Josh. I find myself walking closer, my fingers meet the wall as my eyes scan the different words.
"You know how lived here for around 3 years?" said Josh, feeling him next to me.
"Yeah, I am guessing that's where you learnt how to speak French" I replied.
"I used to come here with my mum, the trip was initially to go to Sacre Coeur Basilica. But we would always stop by here, to gaze at the people. Some people got down on one knee to their partners, and some just took photos" he said to me.
"How old were you?" I asked Josh.
"Around 7 or 8" he replied.
"Can we go to the Sacre Coeur Basilica?" I asked him, hoping my pronuciation was correct.
"Sure, also well done with the accent" he smiled as he took my hand. I smiled as we walked up the hill.
a/n: again I apologise for the late updates, school and everything. Anyways stay safe yall! And always remember to vote and share :)
