He at there in silnce for ten minutes, staring at the blank white ceiling. His hands were folded neatly across his rising chest.  With a sigh, he picked up his phone from the arm rest and then called his sister.

"Enjoying time with your daughter?"

"How did you know? I never called you about that..."

"How else did you think Katelynn got your address? Aw, isn't my niece beautiful?"

"Well, thank you. I should be angry at you but thank you. I just wanted to know what time you and Chris are landing tomorrow."

"You won't believe it," she shrieked. He picked up Mariah's teddy and put it beside her. "I just landed. Me and Chris are coming to your house right now! We found an early flight so we took it."

"That's great. So how was it?"

"Great. Me and Chris worked everything out and I'm really glad that we went."

"I'm happy for you, Astrid. I really am. You deserve a guy like Chris after Terry."

"Thank you. So how are you and Katelynn doing?" Mason let out a ragged sigh.

"I don't know. We kissed...But it didn't end too well. She doesn't want a relationship until I tell her why I left." Mason saw the sun start to creep through the gap in the curtain and stood. "Are you guys hungry? Shall I make something?"

"Yes please! And, Mason...You have to tell her sooner or later."

"I prefer later. I told her I need more time and she went back saying that I had six years." Mason put some water into a pan and then on the already hot stove. "I just...When I saw her again, I just felt everything come back to me and I was so mean to her."

"Yeah...She told me. That wasn't right, Mason."

"I know. Khole wet the bed tonight. I put her bear to wash."

"Don't change the subject. Anyways, we are nearly here! I can't wait till I see my little babies again. Aw." At that moment, Jason started to cry. Mason grabbed the bottle of water from the side and went up stairs.

"Talking about babies, Jason is awake. I'll call you back in a bit." Mason took him downstairs and put him in his high chair. "My man is a hungry man, aren't you?" Jason giggled and clapped his hands. "Well, lets feed you some of this yucky food mummy says to eat and then I give you real food. How about that?" Katelynn silently walked down the stairs in her shorts and vest. "Jason," Mason started as he put some eggs in the pan of boiling water. "Your Aunt Katelynn is upset with me. Let me tell you something, if I knew she was coming, then I would have made myself ready to tell her. But I didn't. She came so unexpected, you know? I just need some time to get things how they were going. I just want everything to be settled before I tell her."

Katelynn walked in and hugged Mason from behind. She felt him jump but then felt a hand over hers. "Talking to a two year old? Very impressive. Does he give any good advice?" Mason chuckled and took out the eggs from the pan. He then turned around and circled his arm around her waist. "I'm sorry, Mason. When you mentioned time I just got so angry but...I guess I didn't see it from that point of view. I'm sorry."

"Why are you apologizing for my mistake? I'll tell you everything, Katy. Just not now."

"Why not now, though?"

"You just said you were gonna give me time! Just don't ask!" Mason groaned when he heard knocking on the door.

"I just don't see why you can't tell me! Were you dying? Did you just use me for sex? Was there someone else?"

"What? There was no other woman!" He heard the knocking again. "I'm coming! Why do you always think there is someone else?! I don't get the point of this!" He opened the door. "Khole is sleeping. Jason is on his chair. Breakfast is on the table. You know where the bread is." He then turned to Katelynn. "Like I said, no point! Just fucking leave me alone!"

"I just wanna know why you left-"

"I got scared! I got scared, okay?!" Astrid and Chris slowly crept to the kitchen. "You scared me!  Us scared me. Before going with you to Spain, you were the only one on my mind. Spending those beautiful six weeks...I told you I loved you when I didn't. That night- when I left- I was just looking down at you sleeping and I realised that I actually did love you. That scared me, Katelynn! It scared me so much. At that moment, I wanted to spend every moment with you. I wanted to grow old together. Get married. Have kids. Buy our own house. Decorate our room. The baby's room. But then I thought you might not wanna be with me so I left. No one stays in a relationship with me that long so I walked out before you could hurt me."

"So you hurt me instead?"

"I know I was selfish. I was really selfish. I love you, Katelynn. This is the first time I've said and actually meant it. Whether you want it to be or not, it won't be the last time I say it."

"I really can't believe you!"

"This is why I said I couldn't say it! I knew this was gonna happen! I knew it!" Katelynn stormed off, leaving an exasperated Mason behind.
