Stalking slowly

Purposefully

Across the dry

Parched lawn

The shadow was an obvious menace to all

Swooping

Over an unsuspecting chipmunk

The creature lurks

Waiting

The small

Diminutive mammal

Seeming to sense a foreign presence

Scrunches up her small

Pink nose

Snuffling at its surroundings

Seemingly satisfied

The skittish creature eagerly returns to its hard-earned supper

Suddenly

The mysterious predator turns and flees

All but silent

It has heard its master's call

Much to the relief of its former prey.
