This is a twist of Harry potter series where Draco is a Veela and needs to find his mate.
The plot begins after the war.
As Hermione and Draco work on accepting each other and the mate bond, new enemies make themselves known.

" I do not know what having a mate means or what this bond holds in store for us. But what I do know for sure is that it's not fake. It never can and never will be fake love."
"This bond is a part of me of us. Don't think of it as an external force manipulating us to be together. I did read that this bond helps Veelas find their other halves and that it helps the community of Veelas avoid extinction. But I don't think that's it. Hermione, I plead you to give me a chance. Let the bond work it's magic. If, after a few months, you feel like you can't return my feelings or if they are not real, then I won't force you to stay. Just one chance to ask for forgiveness and show you I have changed." Draco looked straight in her eyes, trying to make her feel his emotions through his eyes.
Hermione saw raw emotions reflecting in his eyes which, made her feel things she never had before and never should. But here she was melting under his gaze and nodding her head in a yes before she was sure enough with her decision.
"Alright, I agree to try. But let's start from the absolute beginning with a clean slate. Tell me all you know about yourself and your veela traits and, I'll do the same. How does that sound?"
Hermione asked. She wants to learn about him. How much changed for the better, he is now. Not how he was before. She doesn't know why her heart starts beating rapidly just, hearing his voice, or why she feels flustered when his silver orbs are focused solely on her. But she wants to know.
Draco was ecstatic hearing Hermione say those words. Thus, they spent hours just talking and learning more about each other until it was time for dinner.

"I cannot believe you fell on top of a tree!" laughed Hermione as they made their through the hallways towards the dining hall. Draco smiled, hearing her lovely laugh. "I did. Father had to levitate me down before giving me an earful."
The distance had decreased drastically in a span of only a few hours. Hermione and Draco both enjoyed the other's company, sharing knowledgable thoughts and experiences like the intellectuals they are.
They didn't even know how time passed so quickly and, they were already late for dinner. Walking next to each other, they didn't realize how close they were as they walked through the doors and inside the big hall.
When they heard silence ensuing in the previously noisy hall, they snapped out of their bubble and paid attention to their surroundings.
The entire body of students, including the teachers, were all staring at the Gryffindor princess and the Slytherin prince mingling merrily with each other. It was an unexpected sight, can't blame them for overreacting.Sharing awkward smiles, they both parted ways, moving towards their respective tables, preparing themselves for the oncoming confrontations.
Sorry for the short chapter. I'll try to make it up for in the next chapter. I hope you are enjoying the story. I know how I want it to end but I don't know how to write the process of getting there.
