Josh's PoV:

"Disgusting." My dad mumbled at two boys holding hands walking down the street. "If you ever come out as gay you better pack your bags. Being a fag is a sin." I sighed and nodded. Bit late for that. "Can you just imagine dating someone of the same gender?" My dad said with a disgusted look. Yeah, I do. "I dunno, never happened to me." I lied and continued looking at my phone. "And it better not." He said pulling into school. "Thanks for the ride." I saw Nessa waiting at the school doors. I walked up to her and tapped her shoulder. "Hey Josh, you ready to show off our 'relationship'." She said putting air quotes around relationship. I nodded and took her hand. Once again I dropped her off at her locker and walked to mine. My first class was science class, with Jaden. I looked around and saw him sitting in the back of the class with his knees brought up to his chest. Students were taunting him and throwing stuff at him. I clenched my jaw and walked over. "Fuck off." I growled making them immediately turn away. "Hey Princess." I said sitting next to him. He whimpered and hid his face in his knees. "Hey, it's ok. I won't hurt you." I said softly. He looked at me with glossy eyes. My heart sank at the sight. I took his hand and gently rubbed circles with my thumb. He calmed down and blushed. I let his hand go and focused on what the teacher was saying. "So, we're going to be doing a project. In pairs, which I will be picking. You have until the end of the month to complete it. I will announce the partners at the end of class." Mrs Dawson explained. When the end of class came she announced the partners. "Now, the partners. Quinton and Cynthia, Kio and Noah, Dixie and Addison, Nessa and Madison, Charli and Avani, Bryce and Tayler, Payton and Jackson and finally Josh and Jaden." I smiled widely at the mention of Jaden being paired with me. I looked over at Jaden who was breathing heavily. "And there will be no switching partners." Mrs Dawson added. The bell rang signaling the end of class. Students filed out, walking to their lockers. I stopped Jaden before he could walk off. "Meet me at the school doors when schools over, we'll go to my house to work on the project." I smiled and walked off. The end of school couldn't come quick enough. I was walking with Bryce and Tayler when I saw Jaden standing at the door. "See y'all tomorrow." I said to them while I walked towards Jaden. "Hey baby boy." I pinned him against the brick wall, taking him by surprise. "H-hi." He stuttered shyly. I grabbed his hand and called an Uber. When we got to my house I checked to see which one of my parents were home. Thankfully it was just my mom. "I'm home!" I called through the house, leading Jaden inside. "Hey honey, and hello Jaden!" She greeted cheerfully. He waved and looked down. "We'll be in my room, we have a project." I said pulling Jaden to my room. He stood awkwardly at the door. "Well come sit down." I said patting the spot next to me. He slowly walked over and sat down. "S-should we start the project?" He asked while I admired his face. His eyes are my favorite thing about him. "Why are you staring at me like that?" He mumbled. "You're pretty cute, you know?" I replied making him blush. He said something but I couldn't hear what he said. We started the project but didn't say a word to each other after that.
