Letting out a huff I rejoin the boys. They break away from their game of exploding snap and give me questioning looks.
"Are you alright?" asks Reg, his grey eyes roaming over me. "You took quite a while."
I give an obviously fake smile. "Everything's wonderful. I talked to a friend for a while but then I ran into your wonderful brother and—"
"Let me guess," Sev interrupts in a sarcastically enthusiastic tone, "he started flirting."
"Ding ding ding. Ladies and gentlemen we have a winner!" I exclaim with a gasp whilst flopping back in my seat and placing the bundle of sweets beside me. Reggie claps loudly as Sev stands and takes a low bow to the nonexistent crowd.
"Oh hush and stop your antics," I scold, unable to keep a smile off my face. "Now eat the food that I've so kindly foraged for you both."
"Foraged?" questions Severus amusedly. "You walked to the trolley."
"Well if you don't want the sweets then that's fine by me," I shrug whilst inspecting my nails. "More for me then."
Reg quickly covers the older boy's mouth and reaches for a jelly slug with his free hand. "Sorry Aster, he seems to have drank a Babbling Beverage and is now talking utter nonsense. We love you and your hard work."
I nod triumphantly. "Well, it feels good to be appreciated."
We talk and joke for the next while, remembering funny stories and old moments as the Scottish landscape passes us by.
"Guys please stop. Don't remind me," I exclaim whilst covering my reddening face in embarrassment.
"I think that moment should be remembered forever," says the younger Black brother across from me. "When Asteria O'Connor, quidditch extraordinaire, threw her beaters bat and hit James Potter square in the face, instead of using an actual bludger."
"What was I supposed to do?" I ask incredulously. "Let him score another ten points? I think not."
"Hey, at least it got the job done," adds Sev with a shrug. "You won Slytherin the cup by distracting the Gryffindor team and got to hit Potter with a bat that left a nasty bruise on his forehead for a week. A win win if you ask me."
"Not exactly a win win. I was banned for a month!"
Sev interjects with a raised finger. "You hit him in the face in front of the entire school. That, is definitely a win win."
I fail miserably at keeping in my laughter, the other two joining in until all that can be heard from our compartment are giggles and laughs.
This is the side of me that I wish I could stay as. Unfortunately, I have to put up a facade. Others know me as coldblooded, like a snake, as the short tempered Slytherin girl who won't hesitate to hex you if you step out of line. Whereas when I'm with people who I truly love and trust, I don't have a care in the world. If my father saw me right now, he'd definitely punish me and say how unladylike and disgraceful I was being.
