Tajiro had decided to take a break and check in Nezuko. As he opened the box instead of a little Nezuko it was a key hanging on a string. He threw the key and yelled for Nezuko but calmed down after everything was explained.

Zenitsu was looking for Nezuko after he Tanjiro left the room and he looked in the box. His reaction was super similar to Tanjiro discovering the key.

Inosuke was training when he found his key by a giant tree. He asked around but no one claimed the key so he took it ( he wasn't going to let them take it anyway).
