I don't know where I fit in,
But can you just let me in,
And give me a space in your heart?†.†.†.†.†
I sit straight and look ahead at the board on which Aarav sir is scribbling something.
For the first time in history, Darshan had attended the class. His class.
He never attended the classes, but being the scholar student had it's own perks. But, Mr. Aarav wasn't buying what he was given. He was profusely angry on Darshan for missing out classes and today, is the consequence day.
“Mr. Raval, where had you been all these days?”, Aarav sir asked through his gritting teeth.
Darshan kept silent which just worsened the factor. It added just added fuel to the fire.
“Speak up!”, Aarav sir yelled and I swear, it made each and every student present in there flinch back in fear.
Darshan squeezed his eyes shut in fear.
Aarav sir unbuttoned the cuffs of his sleeves and folded them up.
Everyone's eyes went wide or was it just me? I was scared. I was scared that the anger that radiated off Aarav sir would end up in a punch or two on Darshan's face.
Think quick! Think quick! Shiv, you can't let him get beaten.
Sorry, Darshan.
“Sir, he is injured”, I stood up and blurted out looking like a fool. Sir glared at me like all other students.
“You! Just keep quiet and do your work. You think I am a fool? When he is playing cricket, he doesn't have anything and in my class, he gets injured?”, he spat at me.
It boiled my blood.
Now, I have to prove myself. He can't just shout at me like that. So what if he is a teacher?
Huh!
I can't let anyone walk over me.
“Sir if you have doubts, have a look at his feet”, I said, quite bravely. I was freaking out inside.
Sir, please check his feet and don't experiment your fist power on me, please sir, please...
He looked at me for quite a few seconds.
He sighed a deep breath and ran a hand through his hair.
“Open your shoes”, he ordered Darshan.
Like a good boy, he obeyed.
If Darshan had said that he loved me last week, now he might start hating me. I broke his promise.
The three red bloody spots were still present at his feet.
I looked at Mr. Aarav's disappointed and disheartened look. This time, he not only just reeked of anger but also, something close to...regret?
Haa! He deserved it.
“You were practising cricket with these feet the whole week?”, Aarav sir lifted his head to meet Darshan's eyes but Darshan hung his head low.
